2014 Year on The Hub in Review

· By Matt · 62 comments

Each year around this time we pull together some of the numbers behind what went down on The Hub in 2014.

Before you get stuck in just a quick thanks to all Hubbers for your part in our continued growth. From the casual browser to the regular contributors, mountain bikers to unicyclists, from the lycra clad to baggy shorted and everyone who shares our passion for all things cycling.

Thank you!

what klaps me from the start here

hub is 47% international???really

Gauteng - 53% of users

W.Cape - 30,5%

so the meat of the content comes from these two places.

Gauteng - 40% of adverts

W.Cape - 41%

but doesn't jozi have all the money??

We'll revise it for the full year's figures after the 31st, but typically most people will be well on leave by then and likely not see it.

That figure is a little misleading. Yes, 47% of all visitors to the site are international, however many of those are via once-off search queries and are unlikely to be regular visitors.

The page view numbers give far more accurate view of regular visitors 91% of all pageviews coming from SA (41,079,150)

Now where is that one word phred.....?

All nicey nice and smelling like roses, but what about the tabloid and gossip stats?

Of the 13,464 new members, how many were double accounts and how many got banned?

Who received the highest "report" count?

Who is the "one-post-wonder" of the year?

Wie was die stout seun (en meisie) van die jaar?

Who are the problem children constantly on ADMIN's radar?

Wie is poefdraaier van die jaar?

Just give the details to either confirm or dismiss some of the perceptions and ASSumptions.....lekker man, lekker!

Thanks ADMIN....rus lekker!

Doubt Matt will give details of the below but I'm sure we can all speculate on these ourselves..

Below is my take.

   :whistling:

Now where is that one word phred.....?

Haha, easy for me to find.... https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/128900-one-word-thread/

All nicey nice and smelling like roses, but what about the tabloid and gossip stats?

Chit Chat not included in the public report me thinks...

Of the 13,464 new members, how many were double accounts and how many got banned?

Probably only 8. Octavian = Octo.... Oh wait 9. Bob did a comeback tour under a pseudonym

Who received the highest "report" count?

Chukky was gone for a bit. Don't recall any other regulars who got booted and returned..

Who is the "one-post-wonder" of the year?

I think the dude who complained about having his 'Mclaren' Venge AD torn to shreads after trying to push a fake bike was really special

Wie was die stout seun (en meisie) van die jaar?

My biased opinion - Vetseun was properly stout revving the South Coast newbie and dissing her whole ordeal because she struggled to make a point succinctly. Tim O being a member of the site and pulling his real world stunts will be the runaway winner for this award though!

Hub doesn't have any 'stout' ladies

Who are the problem children constantly on ADMIN's radar?

I'm sure they know who they are!

Wie is poefdraaier van die jaar?

Octavian was so good at stirring last year, that he won it for this year as well....

Just give the details to either confirm or dismiss some of the perceptions and ASSumptions.....lekker man, lekker!

Thanks ADMIN....rus lekker!

Happy Holidays Matt and the rest of the Hub team! Rad to see your venture grow from strength to strength!!!!
