When scouting around an area that you are both familiar with and unfamiliar with, it is magical to grasp the possibilities such a place has to offer – the perfect playground for any adventure racer is the Transkei.

The true beauty of the Transkei lies beyond the famous Great Kei River ferry where the pure rawness of both culture and soil meet the beauty of the Wild Coast. Unlike most events that take place along the Wild Coast; the Transkei Tuff adventure race will venture teams through magical canopied terrain, onto exquisite waterfalls, swims in rivers surrounded by steep canyonned walls and along magnificent beaches.

“The Wildcoast has an abundance of raw beauty and as organisers of the Transkei Tuff it has been a case of piecing together these magnificent land marks; where we are showcasing these unforgettable places to athletes from all around South Africa ” shares adventure photographer and organiser; Bruce Viaene.

Hosts of this awesome event; Wavecrest Beach Hotel & Spa look forward to welcoming amateur and world-series adventure racing teams on the 7th April 2017.

The 150km 24hour adventure race is filled with an array of disciplines featuring a flat-water paddling , trekking, mountain biking and abseiling. All of which will explore the Transkei Tuff adventure racing teams through the rural lands that surround the Wavecrest area.
According to Viaene “As much of a challenge self-navigating is; we have kept the course relatively user-friendly for teams. However of course racing once the sun sets brings a unique and exciting aspect to the teams that are new to the sport; something new comers can look forward to”.

Teams of four or two can enter this ‘Tuff’ experience; taking on the adventure of racing along the Wild Coast. Entries close on the 31st March 2017; where entry fees include pre-race and post-race accommodation and meals. Enter online on www.wonadventure.co.za

I have done a few of the races Bruce puts together, always top notch stuff.

If you are into adventure racing then this should be very high on your list of races to do.
