· By Matt · 1 comment

The bridge Cape Pioneer Trek is one of the most anticipated mountain biking races of the year with 250 cycling teams of two expected to take part in the now 7 day stage race. This race, which has grown from strength to strength in the past 3 years, promises every rider, both local and international, the true African experience.

This year, the race taking place between the 14 – 20 October 2012, will start at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge just outside of Oudtshoorn. The diversity of this route is what sets it apart from others in the category and riders who participate can expect a rapid change of scenery over the course of the race. Riding through the arid semi desert of the Great Karoo, traversing the mountainous undulations of the Klein Karoo, and flowing through the ultimate single-tracks of the fern infested forests of the Garden Route coast; each day will be a new and exciting challenge.

This year the race introduces a prologue starting at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge and will utilize some of the amazing scenery, tracks and wildlife experience that this area has to offer. The 20 kilometers of flowing, good quality single track found at MTBdestination.com next door to the lodge is every cyclists dream and will bring a whole new level to the race.

The competition promises to be both exciting and challenging in terms of the route and riders can expect to cross paths with incredible wildlife such as elephant and rhino. As always, the organisers wish to maintain ride quality and enjoyment without compromising the great pioneer spirit this event is so well known for, which is why the tougher portage sections will be kept to a minimum this time around.

The sense of community that is key in the bridge Cape Pioneer Trek will be stronger than ever with the community partners and local schools earning even more valuable income through this association. The wealth of business that this race brings to the communities throughout the route highlights the organiser’s sense of responsibility and passion for the growth and maintenance of these beautiful areas.

The entire route will be finalized in the coming weeks and announced at the media launch on the 14 June 2012 along with the names of celebrity riders who will be participating.

Once again Cycle Wrench Works will be at hand to make sure your bikes are in tip top shape and ‘race ready’!!

We only service 16 teams, to insure the optimum attention to our clients. The following services are included:

Daily wash, service and lube on each race day dependent on water availability. If water is limited or not available, we will clean the bikes to the best of our ability under the circumstances.

For the Cape Town clients, you can book a pre services, which will include a full strip down and rebuild of your bicycle (excluding cables and housing) and lubing of all pivot points. Servicing of shocks are optional but will be advised( We do all shock servicing in house).

We require a full spec sheet of your bike to ensure we carry correct spares for your particular bicycle(Yes we will be carrying enough spares to keep your bike in the Race, so don’t bring your own) . Specifically parts like tyres, tubes, spokes, brake pads, etc. You can either send these specs on a spec sheet (which we can provide on request) or alternatively, you may bring your bike in and we can do this for you.

We require a non-refundable deposit(can be trancefered) in order for you to secure our services. Bookings are taken on a 'first come, first serve' basis. I can provide a number of references should you wish.

Should there be any further queries with regards to the above, please do not hesitate to contact me on +2782 352 1037. info@wrenchworks.co.za
