BSi Steel dusi2c back yard battle for Change a Life Zulus

· By Press Office · 0 comments

Three RMB Change a Life MTB Academy duos are relishing the opportunity to tackle this year’s BSi Steel dusi2c mountain biker race which takes place from Pietermaritzburg to Durban on 11 and 12 June, as event that flows through their own back yards.

The two-day stage race from KZN’s capital down to the Indian Ocean is one that Valley of a Thousand Hills based academy riders have excelled at since its inception in 2013 but more than that, the event gives the local heroes a rare opportunity to compete in front of their friends and family.

“It is just so lekker for our guys to be able to race on their own turf in front of the communities they have grown up and live in,” explains academy founder, Martin Dreyer.

“There is no pressure on them from me whatsoever when it comes to racing for positions at the BSi Steel dusi2c; there is enough of that on them from their own family and friends!

“I know they’ll give their absolute best and first and foremost they must just go out there and enjoy this incredible experience!” he adds.

With the support of both title sponsors and the race organisers, Dreyer’s charges will look to take in the magic of the two day opportunity as best they can and despite a pairing reshuffle, may well go on to emulate their 2015 efforts that saw them claim second and third place overall behind winners, Team TIB’s Andrew Hill and Chris Wolhuter.

“A big thanks to BSi Steel for covering one of our entries and to Farmer Glen himself for helping us with another!” says Dreyer.

“Mboneni Ngcobo and Mazwi Smimango will go nicely I’m sure, as too will Sipho Kupiso and Ndumiso Dontso, even though Sipho is still dealing with the after effects of the 36ONE Challenge.

“Bongumusa Zikhali and young Siyanda Masango make up our third pair and all in all we’re really looking forward to having our guys race through the valley next weekend!”

The 2016 BSi Steel dusi2c mountain bike race takes place from Camps Drift in Pietermaritzburg to Durban’s Blue Lagoon on 11 and 12 June. For more information visit www.dusi2c.co.za.
