MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung, who will race as Team Dimension Data from next year onward, are delighted to announce that Cameron Meyer has signed for Africa’s Team.

Cameron Meyer will join our South African registered team after having spent the past 4 seasons with the Australian Orica-Greenedge outfit. Meyer, at still only 27 years of age, is a talented time trial rider who has also proven himself on shorter climbs. Testament to Meyers abilities are his overall victories of the Santos Tour Down Under as well as the Herald Sun Tour.

As a double Australian Time Trial champion, Meyer was also instrumental in two Grand Tour team trial stage victories. And with already 8 Grand Tours under his belt, Meyer’s experience and tremendous depth will only allow our African Team to reach greater heights on the sporting front as well as in further extending the reach we have for Qhubeka.

Meyer is the 6th new addition to our African Team. We look forward to announce the signing of another African talent as our final addition to the 2016 roster.

Cameron Meyer – Rider
I am very excited to be racing with Team Dimension Data next season. They have had unbelievable results at the biggest races and are moving ahead quickly. I am really looking forward to being a part of their future success.

My main motivation for joining this professional racing team was not only the pride I would feel being an ambassador on the bike but also the pride of involvement in the successful work for the Qhubeka Charity.

Cycling News October 13 :Doug Ryder is understandably giddy with excitement after signing Mark Cavendish but the mere mention of Meintjes' move to Lampre is a wound that will remain open for some time.

Meintjes was meant to be the poster-boy for South African cycling and under MTN stewardship he was going to progress up the ranks and develop into the team's GC leader at the Tour. It's not hyperbolic to suggest that he was being groomed as the embodiment of the team on and off the road.

In August he looked set to stay with the team too and Ryder was utterly unaware of the about turn that saw former MTN manager Brent Copeland swoop in and cherry-pick Meintjes for 2016. MTN's loss is certainly Lampre's gain and the 23-year-old, who finished 10th in the Vuelta during the best season of his career to date, could develop into the signing of the season.

This article was taken from Cycling News .LM is the only African that has not extended his contract it's sad but does not mean we must not stand behind our team. It still has 11 Afrricans in it.

Louis made the right decision. With Cav there, there would've been virtually no support for his GC ambitions. The entire team would've been geared towards being a lead out train. As sad as it is to see him go, he did what was best for him.

We'd be lucky to have 1 South African in the Tour team next year. Unfortunately, the reality is, sponsors pay for results, not African sentiment.

DD will be riding 3 Major Tours next year. 1 rider can't do all 3 majors and expect good results

In 1 tour they might concentrate on Sprints the next might be GC rider. Once the tour course is out Teams decide which rider it suits. ( Nibali will be doing Giro and Aru Tdf )Not all the signings are for a lead out train. If they get WT acceptance they will need 30+ riders. I don't think Lampre have a better team than DD. There are still 11 Africans in the squad.
