Cycling South Africa welcomes Ciska Austin as Vice president, who was elected at the Cycling SA Council Meeting held in Johannesburg on 11 June 2016.

Ciska Austin has had a long association with cycling in South Africa, which stems back to 2002 when she became actively involved in a cycling club in the Free State. It was there where she met her now husband, Barry, and became more involved in working with the junior cyclists. Her roles in cycling then progressed to doing administration for some of the bigger cycling teams in South Africa.

Mrs Austin then served as Secretary for the Cycling SA Road Commission from 2007 to 2009 before joining the Federation full time as the Secretary General, a position that she held from 2010 to mid-2012.

Since then, Mrs Austin moved on to pursue her career as a Strategic Sports Sponsorship Management consultant and remained in close contact with the cycling world when she worked on the Engen Cycling account, amongst other sporting codes.

Her keen interest and enthusiasm in cycling has seen the sporting code become a very large part of her life and her intricate knowledge of the sport will hold Mrs Austin in good stead in her newly elected position.

In her role as Vice President, Mrs Austin will oversee corporate governance to assist provinces to better govern themselves; oversee the selection policies that are in place for 2020 Olympic Games and 2022 Commonwealth Games; and work with the various cycling Commissions to ensure that the rules and regulations are followed through effective implementation.

We wish you much success in your exciting and challenging role, Ciska.
