If cycling 2000km over ten days with over 52 000m of climbing thrown in sounds like fun to you then this week’s Cycle Talk SA is a must listen. And yes, that is not a typo, 52 000m of vertical climbing over ten days.

Top South African age grouper triathlete, trail runner, cyclist and adventurer, Raoul de Jongh, rode the Dolomites Cent Cols Challenge just a few weeks ago and Brad Brown caught up with him after the fact to chat a little about the ride. The pair also chatted about the other two rides, in the Alps and the Pyrenees (a fourth has now also been added for 2014 in Corsica).

Brad also caught up with Catherine Albertyn, who recently won the Meals on Wheels cycle race in Heidelberg. Cath has a fascinating story though, as she is not a professional cyclist, works full time, has lost an incredible 30 kilograms over the last five years and is racing like an absolute machine. Cath told Brad about how this incredible achievement came about, also the one thing she has done over the last two years that has dramatically improved her cycling as well as how cross training has helped her performance on the bike.

If you are looking to get stronger and faster on the bike this is one interview you do NOT want to miss. Don’t forget to that you can also be in touch with Cycle Talk SA on Twitter if you have any suggestions for guests or topics of discussion we are always open to ideas.
