· By Press Office · 14 comments

Cycling South Africa’s Mountain Bike Commission has great pleasure in announcing that the following rider has been selected to represent South Africa at the 2016 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships in Laissac, France, on 25-26 June.

Robyn de Groot has been selected in line with the 2016 CSA-MTB Selection Criteria. The criteria and performance levels detailed in the approved Mountain Bike Selection Policy were followed closely. The relevant data from the nominated selection races were gathered and assessed against the performance criteria for all riders competing in the Elite Women and Elite Men categories. These are the only categories provided for at World MTB Marathon Championships.

Especially considering the Epic is one of the qualifying events for selection.

It's a bloody sick joke... SA must be the marathon and stage race capital of the mtb world yet only one rider was selected.

Not even a development team LOL

Good luck Robyn

I've only seen that Erik Kleinhans came in 29th. Didn't even know he was there. He complains that a bad seeding had him starting at the back with little room to pass.

Robyn was not in the top 10. That much I know. Ariane was 4th.

Robyn didn't ride due to injury (think she hurt her shoulder in a crash). Ariane finished 4th

Can she do the double and take the XCO title this weekend? Very likely.
