The mountain biking community will celebrate on Tuesday, 14 February 2017 for a very different reason when entries open for the Western Cape’s most loved three day stage mountain bike (MTB) events, the FNB Wines2Whales (W2W) MTB Adventure, Ride and Race.

“We are excited to open entries for the 9th annual FNB W2W MTB Events,” says Michael Meyer, FNB W2W MTB Director. “We look forward to building on the successes of 2016. Our focus will once again be on refreshing the rider’s experience both on route and in the festival village. Together with the support of our valued sponsors we look forward to hosting yet another memorable experience in the beautiful Western Cape.”

“Entrants can look forward to fun and surprising route upgrades in 2017,” says Johan Kriegler, FNB W2W MTB Director. “The 2016 event has spurred on some exciting route changes. We will, however, still include the W2W favorites to give newcomers the opportunity to experience the routes that riders having been raving about. The systematic replacement of alien vegetation with indigenous vegetation is still our focus, as is our on route nature conservation efforts and the creation of sustainable job opportunities. A sincere thank you goes out to all the landowners for consistently opening their hearts and farms to the annual FNB W2W MTB Events. A key strength of these events is the quality of landowner partnerships that we have built over the years”.

“We are delighted to be the sponsors of one of the sought–after races in South Africa. The FNB W2W is rapidly becoming a flagship event for cyclists around the country. The camaraderie, spectacular route and intense competition provide an experience that is filled with awe amongst sports enthusiasts.” added Stephan Claassen, Provincial Head FNB Business Western Cape.

Riders that participated in the 2016 events, or were placed on the 2016 waiting list, can enter the FNB W2W MTB Adventure, Ride or Race on Tuesday, 14 February 2017 when entries open at 08:00. Both riders in the team need to be on the 2016 database to register during the preferential period.
