Highlights: Geraint Thomas powers to opening stage win

The highlights from the opening stage of the 2017 Tour de France. An individual time trial through the city of Düsseldorf in Germany.

The stage was won by Team Sky’s Geraint Thomas while his team mate Chris Froome distanced himself from his rivals with a powerful showing. Unfortunately, yellow jersey contender Alejandro Valverde crashed out of the Tour after sliding out and hitting a barrier on a wet corner.
