Established in Italy in 1980, Scicon have grown into a leading global brand, providing the ultimate solution for the secure transportation of bicycles.

ASG International chief executive Heinrich Dannhauser was delighted to welcome Scicon on board for the five-day race, which will be based in the Boland region of the Western Cape from March 6 next year.

“Scicon are a leading brand in the world of cycling,” said Dannhauser. “They are the number one choice of professional road racing teams and have an incredible global footprint.

“This will undoubtedly help to further increase the international appeal of the event, which is already attracting a significant contingent of international riders.”

Scicon international sales manager Chris Pearce said they had a strong connection with the country through ASG and already back many of their events.

“Road racing is in our DNA,” he said.

“We’ve been engineering and manufacturing bike bags, cases and protection since 1980. We are established as the global leader of bike transportation.”

ASG Events chief executive Wynand de Villiers said they had been unwavering in their commitment to establish the Tour of Good Hope as South Africa’s national tour.

“Even though we have achieved this, we remain committed to increase the value offering and rider experience every year,” he said of the Cycling SA-backed event.

De Villiers said each participant would receive customised Scicon racing bags with a retail value of more than R1 600 apiece in what he termed a “product and services sponsorship”.

“We are very fortunate to have partners such as Scicon, Bestmed and the City of Drakenstein who share our vision.”

Pearce said their Tour of Good Hope mission was to ensure safe, stylish and stress-free travel for participants.

“We offer a range of products to transport and protect bicycles and equipment needed when travelling to a race.”

He said their bike bags and cases were lightweight, easy to pack, simple to manoeuvre and protective.

“We understand our customers lead active and adventurous lifestyles and want to make it as easy as possible for them to bring their bikes with them.”
