We caught up with Rachel and Gee following the UCI MTB World Cup Downhill qualifiers on Friday. They shared some insights about their qualifying runs, the season ahead and their bikes.
Rachel Atherton
An under the weather Rachel Atherton still impressed as she managed to fight her way to second in qualifying on a hot and dry day at the Cascades MTB Park at the 2014 UCI MTB World Cup, Presented by Shimano, just a day before the final on Saturday afternoon.

A pic Rachel popped up on her Instagram earlier this week. Based on that second place in qualifying she has bounced back pretty well.
Rachel also commented on her health. There was a healthy amount of chatter about a photo she posted on Twitter earlier in the week. Although she’s been fighting off a bug and not quite at 100% she put in a solid run and qualified in second place.

Gee had a big over-the-bars crash in his qualifying run but came out of it unscathed. He chats about this and his preparation ahead of the 2014 season.

GT Fury gets some attention ahead of Saturday’s finals.
Just hanging around in the pits – a GT Sanction 650b – the baby brother to the Fury and tipped to be the bike of choice for Enduro riders this season.
