KZN awarded 2014 SA Road and TT Championship

KwaZulu-Natal has been awarded the 2014 SA National Road Cycling and Time Trial Championships, which will take place from 4-9 February 2014.

The city of Durban played host to the successful 2012 SA Vets Road Champs, and are thrilled to be hosting the prestigious again event in 2014, together with the Elite champs.

The championship event will host the under-16, Junior, under-23, Elite and all the Veteran categories during the course of the week.

“The Vets and Elite categories will all be racing at one championship event and will not be split as in pervious years,” said Cycling SA Road Director Hendrik Wagener. “Each and everybody from the age of 16 years and older will be able to race at the same venue.”

There will however be no age groups younger that 16 competing at the SA Road Cycling Championships as these youngsters will be eligible to compete in the Youth Festival series of events, as part of the Long Term Participant Development programme.

There will be full road closure for both the road race and the time trial events. Those Masters’ that competed in the 2012 National Championship event will be familiar with the route as the same road race and beachfront time trial routes will be used once again.
