Presented by Bestmed, the race takes place in the heart of the scenic Cape Winelands and boasts some of the region’s best single-track riding and world-class waterpoints.
This year, the route includes new highlights such as a trip past the house where Nelson Mandela was held captive in the Drakenstein prison. Cape Nature has given the go-ahead to use vast sections of their land, and this has opened some wonderful terrain, including a stunning viewpoint.
The race attracted almost 1 000 riders in its inaugural outing last year and new sponsor Rudy Project is adding more than R150 000 in prizes for the 2013 edition. Late entries will be accepted at Cycle Lab Paarl from 3pm to 6pm on Friday and at the Val de Vie Clubhouse between 9am and 2pm on Saturday.
Riders can choose between the 60km and 30km option, with a 5km kiddies’ race rounding out the events. R10 of every entry will be donated to the Cancer Association of South Africa.
