Online entries for 2013 Tricycle & Junior Tour now open

Online entries for the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Tricycle Tour, refreshed by Minute Maid, and the Junior Tour, presented by Spur Steak Ranches, are now open.

The event takes place on Saturday, 9 March 2013 at the Youngsfield Military Base in Wynberg. Each child participating in the event will receive a goodie bag, a medal and a certificate upon completion.

The Tricycle Tour is aimed at youngsters up to the age of 6 years old. Parents are encouraged to enter their little ones for this 1,7km fun ride, which introduces young children to the essentials of cycling in a safe environment.

The Junior Tour is ideal for youngsters between the ages of 6 and 12 years and offers either a 2.5km; 5km or 7.5km route. Parents on their own bikes are welcome to join first-timers on the track.

Both events are fun rides and not races, and aimed at developing a love for the sport of cycling among youngsters.

As part of the safe cycling initiative, parents and youngsters are reminded to bring their helmets to the events, as a strict “No Helmet No Ride” rule will apply.

“We encourage parents to enter their kids for these rides timeously as entries will be limited to ensure maximum enjoyment for all riders,” advised Adri Bootsma, marketing, sponsorship and media manager for the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust. “Parking is limited and so, in line with our environmental policy, we request that people car pool when travelling to the event.”

Registration will take place between 1 and 8 March 2013 at the Canal Walk Shopping Centre, Pick n Pay Court from 9am – 9pm and at the Cape Argus Lifecycle Expo on 7 and 8 March at the Good Hope Centre. No entries will be available on the day of the event.
