Road World Champs: Elite Women ITT highlights and coverage of Elite Men ITT

The UCI Road World Championship is well under way, Florence having already played host to the Team Time Trials (TTT) and the Elite Women Individual Time Trials (ITT), while the Men’s ITT and the final Road Races are to be held on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September 2013.

During the Elite Men TTT on 22 September, ORICA-GreenEDGE managed a well deserved silver medal only .810 seconds shy of the gold medalist team, Omega Pharma-QuickStep. It was a great start for SA with Daryl Impey on the ORICA-GreenEDGE team.

The Elite Women Time Trials happened yesterday, 24 September, with Ellen Van Dijk of Specialized-Lululemon taking a gold with a commanding win, while Linda Villumsen of New Zeland took silver and Carmen Small of the USA took bronze. See highlights of the event below.

The Elite Men Time Trial happens today, 25 September. For the 57.2km course, the main contenders to watch out for are Tony Martin, Fabian Cancellara, and Taylor Phinney. Although, being a course with not much elevation change, the powerful riders are in favour. You can watch live coverage of the event below.
