Forming part of the Quattro ROAG Series in 2013, the established race is the second race in the successful MTB Series.
“The all new Sappi Karkloof Classic doesn’t need much describing. With a full-time route building and maintenance team in place, you are guaranteed superb value for your entry fee, as well as a spot in one of the largest MTB races on the national calendar,” said Event Organiser Stu Berry.
The PERI night race kicks off the weekend’s events on Friday, April 19 followed by the STIHL Enduro on Saturday, April 20.
“Sunday is the big day, with the 60km, 40km, 20km and 10km distances – which caters for all riders. Superb organisation and a wonderful venue that is very family friendly attracts riders back every year. Normal entry fee applies up until April 14, and camping is also available at the venue. All details can be found at www.karkloofmtb.co.za. Alternatively, follow us on Twitter @karkloofmtb”. Berry said.
Nicole Talbot (ROAG Business Manager) said following the demand that the Sappi Karkloof Classic form part of the Series from participants, the ROAG team approached the organisers to be a part of the Quattro ROAG Series in 2013.
“We were extremely pleased when they agreed to be a part of it, especially since the race is one of the biggest in KZN, attracts riders from across the country and offers world class trails,” Talbot said.
The Quattro ROAG Series is a provincial mountain biking series which boasts prize money to the tune of R20 000 to the overall men and women winners. The series was introduced to great acclaim last year, as it created a competitive platform for social riders; encouraged up-and-coming riders; raised the profile of the sport and encouraged competition between top riders.
Taking part in the ROAG Series is simple and straightforward – merely participate in six of the nine races that form part of the Series in 2013. It is FREE to take part in the ROAG Series; however participants will be required to ride the correct distance (according to their age group), to pay the race entry fees for each race, as well as the necessary CSA Membership fees. ROAG administers a comprehensive log which updates your results after each race so that you can keep tabs on your performance.
