As autumn begins its transition into winter, there’s no better place to be riding than sunny KwaZulu-Natal, which often boasts about Durban’s never-ending summers – only an hour away from Africa’s Bike City (PMB). Pietermaritzburg has already played host to various UCI MTB World Cup legs, UCI MTB World Championships and MTB Marathon World Championships, and UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup, providing world-class attention to each event.

The marathon event will consist of one distance only of 60km, allowing all eligible categories to compete in one event. The course will be designed by track maestro, Nick Floros, who never fails to challenge and impress the riders by building spectacular trails.

For the youngsters, there will be an ever-exciting Cross-country Eliminator (XCE) event for anyone willing to give it a try.
The Cascades MTB Park is situated right next to the Cascades Shopping Centre – which provides the perfect opportunity for friends and families supporting the riders to grab a snack or drink. Those who aren’t followers of the sport can spend their time browsing the great selection of boutiques and stores at the centre.

Entries for the National MTB Marathon Championships are open, and close on Tuesday 16 May. To enter, click here: https://cyclingsa-events.co.za/app/
