Safety Recall Notice: SR SunTour Forks

· By Press Office · 3 comments

We have received a notice from Royalty Sports, distributors of Trek in South Africa about faulty SunTour forks on a number of their models. Take a look to see if you have one of these models or forks and be sure to contact Royalty Sports to find out if your fork is faulty. It is not only the Trek specced forks, but any of these SunTours forks that might be affected.

A number of 2011, 2012 and 2013 Trek bicycles were made with an SR Suntour suspension fork on which the fork dropouts can break. If this happens, the rider could lose control of the bicycle.

We have determined the affected bicycle models and list them below.

Corrective actions taken by Trek.

SunTour has since changed the design of the dropouts on these fork models. NRX forks with post mounts are not affected by this recall. Trek has no inventory of the affected bicycles.

Consumers should bring their bicycles to a retailer for repair. If you need any repair kits please contact Royalty Sports.

THE SUSPENSION FORK MAY BREAK POTENTIALLY ALLOWING THE FRONT WHEEL TO COME OFF.

Pictures of affected forks are shown below:

Not good. But at least they are honest and prepaired to fix their faults. Good on them.
