Specialized to become technical sponsor of Bora – hansgrohe team

· By Press Office · 5 comments

Specialized is proud to announce it has entered into a 3-year agreement with the BORA – hansgrohe team for 2017, with all team riders exclusively using Specialized bikes, helmet, shoes, tires, and Roval wheels.

“We are excited and honoured to partner with BORA – hansgrohe as they make the step up from Pro-Continental to World Tour. It’s a big step forward for the team, and for the sport of professional cycling. The team’s signing of Peter Sagan is a real show of force and demonstration of their expectations for the years ahead.”, said Slate Olson, Chief Marketing Officer of Specialized. “With The Tour de France starting in Dusseldorf next year, the timing could not be better for this German-based international team to rise up to the World Tour level.”

After weeks of rumours it is confirmed that World Champion Peter Sagan will join the team, a move made possible in large part by Specialized’s support and alignment with Bora-Hansgrohe. The team is setup to help Peter achieve his goals for the 2017 season, with a solid international roster of supporting teammates, and via the unique and unparalleled methodologies of the Specialized Racing Performance Program, which provides a holistic approach to optimizing each athlete’s potential. In Peter’s case, this applies not only to performance on the road bike but also the mountain bike, on which he will be competing this summer and in seasons to come.

Mike Sinyard, Specialized’s Founder and CEO had this to say, “Peter is a very special athlete, not only because of his great charisma and desire to use his platform in cycling to raise awareness for larger issues of the world, but also because he simply loves to ride his bike; from road racing, to cross-country, to fun riding on the Turbo Levo pedal-assist, Peter does it all. Everyone at Specialized shares Peter’s love of all-things-cycling and we could not be more honored to continue our partnership with him, into the future.”

Specialized is working closely with the team as they finalize their roster. Expect news from the team of more key signings in the coming weeks and months.
