The KZN Summer Series for Men heads to PMB in March

The KZN Summer Series returns to the province in 2017 with the focus this time on the men’s races. The KZN Summer Series for men will take place in Pietermaritzburg on 25 and 26 March 2017. Cycling South Africa is encouraging all riders who are keen to take part, to enter as there is no entry fee for the races.

The structure of the races (and the series) allows for a wide variety of entry: Elite; U23; Junior; Club or Development squads, and the barrier to entry is very minimal, with the entry fee being free.

The KZN Summer Series will comprise of two separate races (with individual prize money) which make up a series, meaning that entrants will need to take part in both races in order to earn points towards overall prizes.

The 2017 edition of the series will allow for a maximum of 30 teams to take part. Each team must have a minimum of four and maximum of six riders at the start of each race.

All riders competing must be in possession of a full racing license (or membership for riders under the age of 16) from Cycling South Africa or their national federation if applicable. To apply for a Cycling South Africa Full Racing Licence, click here: https://cyclingsa-events.co.za/app/

Entry into the races is open to the following:

  • National teams (maximum of three)
  • CSA registered professional teams
  • Provincial teams
  • U23 teams
  • Club teams
  • No age limit applies
  • All provinces are strongly encouraged to enter teams.

These two races together with the SA Road Champs will serve as the selection races for the Junior Men categories.

All teams wanting to be part of the 2017 KZN Summer Series races need to apply for inclusion in the race by no later than 25 February 2017 – applications to be sent via email to the Race Director, Alec Lenferna at alec@realem.co.za.
