The Red Island Ride moves to 2014

· By Matt · 0 comments

The inaugural Red Island Ride, Madagascar’s first ever stage race, will now take place from the 31st May to 7th June 2014 and will be limited to 50 adventurous riders from all over the world. Entries re-open on August 1, 2013.

Originally scheduled over the 10th – 17th August 2013, the event was postponed to take advantage of the numerous, previously undiscovered, single tracks and character filled country lodges.

Fiona Coward, Event Organiser, expands: “You’re not supposed to find new routes on a dry run but what we discovered on the trip inspired us to change the route significantly.”

“For example: Stage Two which runs over rolling hills of untouched forest has been divided into two days opening up a network of single track for riders to explore. Naturally this had an impact on the subsequent stages, but all to the rider’s benefit.”

“Lowering the number of entrants has allowed us to stay in the smaller lodges which will enhance the entire experience,”

“This ride will be simply unforgettable. Despite the shorter routes, the 2014 group of select riders will still need to be super fit and technically competent.” she advises.

Entries are priced at R28 700 and include flights from Johannesburg courtesy of SA Airlink, an additional 15kg bike allowance, all transfers, accommodation and meals offering riders real value for money. Entry fees excluding flights are 1700 euros. Supporter packages are also available.
