· By Press Office · 1 comment

Garden Route Events have three great reasons for you to enter the 2016 GR300 or GRLite, which takes place in the forests of Knysna from the 26th to the 28th of February. It’s shorter, is super camper friendly and offers great prizes!

With the Cape Epic only two weeks after the GR300 Garden Route Events have decided to ease up on the distances covered and altitude gained. For 2016 the GR300 included nothing but the best Garden Route riding, including the Garden Route Trail Park. The daily stats are 80km with 1 650m of climbing, 62Km with 1 550m of climbing, and 78km with 1 450m of climbing in the longer GR300. While for the GRLite riders the daily routes cover 64km with 1 250m of ascent, 46km with 1 100m of ascent, and 65km with 1 050m of ascent; which makes for perfect time in the saddle for riders competing in their first 3 day stage race, or riders just looking to enjoy the Garden Route in the best way possible. For those of you who are feeling the pinch of the ever weakening Rand, Garden Route Events have a plan: free camping. And free breakfast too! If you’re keen to camp during the GR300 or GRLite simply enter through the Garden Route Events’ online entry portal (click here) and then send an email to Garden Route Events at admin@gardenrouteevents.co.za letting them know that you’d like to camp and what your breakfast preferences are. The campsite will be on the Knysna Primary School fields, only a couple of hundred meters from the race village at Quay Four on Thesen’s Island.

There are also a host of great prizes and goodies on offer to GR300 and GRLite entrants. All GR300 and GRLite entries received on or before the 24th will be eligible to win the grand lucky draw prize; of a three nights stay, for two people, in the luxurious Endless Vineyards Boutique Lodge. The Endless Vineyards Boutique Lodge is the jewel in the crown of the Wildekrans Wine Estate in the beautiful Bot River Valley. For the GRLite entrants meanwhile there are prizes courtesy of Oakley sunglasses for the podium finishers. And for every rider who enters before the 31st of January there’s a complimentary race kit, which you’re sure to wear with pride until the 2017 GR300.
