Tracker Announces Absa Cape Epic 2014 Virtual Online Game

· By Press Office · 0 comments

In another innovative addition to this year’s Absa Cape Epic, the entire race can now be experienced virtually with the ability to pit yourself against actual riders. A version of every excruciating climb and death defying downhill is replicated inside the game that was developed to be as easy and fun to play as some of the 8 bit classic games of old.

Think Super Mario/Sonic mashup with a hint of Flappy(Birds), uh…mountain bikers, all scrambling to make it through each of the eight actual stages of the race.

Players must navigate obstacles, jump between platforms, avoid pitfalls (watch out for the falling boulders and killer rabbits!), collect boosts and additional energy and maintain the health of their bike. Completing the stage in the fastest possible time will advance you up the leaderboard.

Impressive features

The Ride Epic Online Game 2014 has some impressive features. With live rider tracking by Tracker enabled on the same website, you can also track Absa Cape Epic riders on the course in real time. You are able to search by team, rider or race number, and also view the top 10 riders. Integration of the game and the live tracking platform means that as a player passes some of the avatars in the game, he is passing real riders in the race.

There is also a good dose of artificial intelligence features thrown in for geeks and gamers.

The live rider tracking offers two views. The elevation view lets you see if the rider is on a flat or an uphill / downhill and shows you where water points are located. The second gives you a bird’s eye view of the terrain using API from Google Maps, so you are able to see live images.

Prizes up for grabs

There are several prizes up for grabs in the Tracker Ride Epic game. The player with the top score at the end of each stage is eligible for daily prizes from Columbia, RSA Web and Cycle Lab, with the top player at the end of the campaign winning the grand prize. The most epic rider at the end of the competition will win R25 000, courtesy of Tracker! As if that’s not enough, Absa is offering an additional entry into their Diepsloot Mountain Bike Academy competition where you stand the chance to win a Project 1 Trek mountain bike worth R100 000 for the players who collect the 8 Absa tokens in the game.
