Video: Lesotho Sky Day 2 Highlights

· By Matt · 0 comments

Day 2 of the 2014 Lesotho Sky took riders on the challenging 52 km loop from Ramabanta. While the shortest stage in this year’s event following the prologue, it was by no means the easiest. The abundant loose rocky climbs and equally tricky descents made for an unending test of riders’ strength and skill.

Guido Thaler of Craft-Rocky-Mountain was first over the line in 02:41:23. However, due to illness his partner Mathias Nothegger withdrew from the race. Louis-Bresler Knipe and Gert Heyns of Contego came across in 02:45:48 as the first official team. They were followed again by Teboho Khantsi and Phetetso Monese (Alliance 1) in 02:54:47. Shaun Mackenzie and Simon Zahnd (My Gas) rounded out the official top three coming in at 03:03:04.

Day 3 – Ramabanta to Malealea

Day 3 takes riders on a 69 km route to Malealea where they’ll spend two nights. Although sections of the course will provide some respite to tired legs, the early technical climbs, switchback descent and 1750m of climbing will make for another exciting day of riding.
