2017 Absa Cape Epic Photo Competition

· By Bike Hub Features · 3 comments

On each day of the Absa Cape Epic, the team of skilled photographers create spectacular images for us to enjoy. Bike Hub will be holding a competition to recognise their hard work and give you the chance to walk away with a signed copy of your favourite photograph.

How it works

  • Every day each photographer will submit their favourite shot with a short note explaining its context.
  • From 6am the next day, the photographs will be on The Bike Hub and voting will take place over the next 12 hours.
  • Each day’s winning photograph will go through to the “finals” on Wednesday, March 29.
  • You will then get an opportunity to vote for the overall winner, who will get a R10 000 prize.
  • The result will be announced on Monday, April 3, and voters who chose the winning picture will go into a lucky draw for a signed and framed version of the photograph.

Born and raised in Cape Town, Ewald Sadie is a South African photographer who has followed his natural love of creating perfect pictures into the structure of full time freelance photography. Originally a software developer, Ewald has left the grind of information systems to work in the mountains and the open spaces of his shoots. Although he is most in demand with the mountain biking industry, ranging from event photography to catalogue shoots, his work portfolio branches into trail running, hiking and rockclimbing. Being a keen mountain biker himself, time on the bike for Ewald is about being alone and away from technology, a space to clear his head. Always after the epic shot, and always in demand because of his perfectionist, creative ways, Ewald is fast tracking his way to becoming a well respected photographer both nationally and internationally.

With a background in sponsorship and marketing the 2017 Cape Epic marks 10 years of being involved in the prestigious event.

Obsessively concerned about the planet and it’s dwindling natural resources most projects he is involved in will include an element of the local fauna and flora in order to help raise awareness. Stage 1 photo's missing?

Coming very soon. The photographers have been super busy and, unfortunately, submissions are trickling in a bit slower than expected.
