It’s true that improving something that’s already spectacular is more difficult than starting from scratch. Trek did just that and took the world’s lightest, best-handling race bike and made it better, making the lightest lighter.

Meet the new Émonda, the hero of the lightweight revolution

Trek has released a new generation of its ultralight Émonda road bike line, shaving 50 g off the previous SLR models, now weighing in at a svelte 640 g. Since its release in 2014, Émonda SLR has set the standard for lightweight road bike performance. For the all-new Émonda line-up, Trek developed a new carbon layup that made its lightest bike even lighter. The 700 Series OCLV Carbon frame also enjoys increases in stiffness and compliance, making the new Émonda family an offering with both the performance attributes required by dedicated racers and improved ride quality for everyday riders.

New models of Émonda SL pair much of the same technology with 500 Series OCLV Carbon frames while an entirely new Women’s model, Émonda SL 5 Women’s, has been added to the SL line-up.

Trek South Africa’s range includes the Émonda SLR 8 and SL 6 Pro, SL 5, and SL 5 Women’s available at Trek retailers nationwide.

Émonda is the bike that will challenge the best on the climbs, corners, and descents of cycling’s biggest races, as well as your local crit.
