How it works

The USN Epic Challenge is based on four individual challenges over an eight week period (12 October – 6 December 2016). Each challenge spans a two week period and will require you to achieve targets based on your Strava cycling activities.

Successfully complete all four challenges and you will be eligible to win one of the two Absa Cape Epic entries available.

Just for participating you’ll also stand a chance of winning one of five USN online shopping vouchers valued at R1500 each.

How do I enter?

  1. Sign up on http://usnepicchallenge.co.za/ using your Strava account;
  2. Start riding! Complete all four challenges and you could win one of two 2017 Absa Cape Epic team entries.

Doubt it, just link your garmin to strava. It's easy enough and automatically loads your rides onto strava from garmin connect.

the rules doesn't seem to state that, also it doesn't necessarily say that the most distance/time/climbing wins, it still complete the challenges and be eligible.

How the hell am I going to get 2500m of climbing in a single ride in Bloemfontein.... :eek:

Edit : The one hill we have in Bloem that is 1km long, I'm going to have to ride it at least 24 times. Going to be fun :ph34r:

Entered!! I think they should make it compulsory that at least half of each activity should be done off road or at least on gravel road.  We don’t want any inexperienced riders take on “the most difficult MTB race in the world” without being able to ride off road.

My wife would kill me if I entered and demanded more ride time to comply.

Wonder what Science to Sport will say about the training program?

My (almost) FIRST ride on 'n MTB was on the day before the start of my Epic.  Never done hydraulic brakes before that day.  Never done dual suspension before that day (one or two rides on 'n Giant Yukon hardtail)

I am a roadie by heart.

Came 76th overall.

Don't judge people on what bikes they ride........

Surely if you do a ride your heart rate monitor must be worn and captured with your ride.

Pretty easy to do this challenge on a motorbike?
