Win a limited edition Brooks X Eroica saddle

· By BikeHubCoreAdmin · 34 comments

This is the second in a series of competitions we’re running leading up to our inaugural Eroica South Africa event. This is your chance to win a very special limited edition L’Eroica Tuscany Team Professional saddle. Brooks, in collaboration with Eroica, only produced 1000 of these beautifully embossed saddles, and this one is number 337.

To win, send us an image of your Eroica South Africa racer, or build, and motivate why your bike would be the prefect candidate to be finished off with a L’Eroica Tuscany Team Professional saddle.

To enter:

  • Upload your photo as a comment below or in the discussion thread on Bike Hub
  • Or upload it on Facebook including the hashtag #eroicabrooks337

The competition is only open to South Africans, and no cheating! We will select a winner, and announce it here. Entries close at 12pm, Thursday 17 March 2016.

Thank you to Brooks for this wonderful gift, and of course for their commitment to vintage cycling – a Brooks saddle completes any vintage ride with style.

That rocky doesn't meet the criteria for this event.

Here is the link to my thread of my beloved little Pinnarello Treviso (fixie/track bike). I can’t give you its age cause I still can’t find much info on the web.

As you can see n the pics, the bike is in very good condition except for the saddle and I honestly can think of a better fit for the Brooks saddle than this beauty.

Does one need to be entered to participate in the eroica event?

If not, here's some pics of my Zeus, in desperate need of a new saddle.

Hi RocknRolla. Nice Zeus! And no, the competition is open to anyone, as long as you're South Africa. You don't need to be entered into Eroica South Africa. Having said that, we would love to see your Zeus on the start line on  23 April! Join us!

Hi Stan.

Thank you.

Sadly the cost related to logistics getting to that event is not within my reach. Sounds like lots and lots of fun.

I posted this on the FaceBook page but there seems to be more action here so I am re-posting.

This is my Eroica bike, a fantastic early 80's South African LeJeune made by the legendary Francois du Toit. The Reynolds 531 frame is in beautiful condition for it's age and could really do with the ultimate finishing touch of a lovely Brooks L’Eroica Tuscany Team Professional saddle and matching bar tape. It would really help this heroic bike to proudly showcase South African frame building, craftsmanship and cycling history at the first Eroica South Africa in Montague. This bike is not going to be just a show piece and will go on to the tackle the Tour of Ara as my new tour bike later in the year. #eroicabrooks337

This beautiful late 60's DHC built with Reynolds 531 tubing will be tearing up the gravel in Montagu at the first Historical Eroica event held in South Africa come Saturday the 23rd of April.

The Brooks Tuscany Team Professional saddle would complement this Historical bicycle to the full.

In the true spirit of the event the South African bicycle manufacturers at the height of SA's racing history will be remembered!post-48195-0-24817800-1457760440_thumb.jpeg

Two years ago I saved this 91 Pinarello Gavia from 9 years of dirt road commuting by an old farm worker in Limpopo. Completely beat up and broken then, but now almost back to her former glory. As you can see below the Selle ITALIA she has is in a state of disrepair.

The day I got her back to jhb

Slowly getting there. Added period Mavic hoops built on campy hubs. She's got to be a SS until I can afford the balance of the campy drive train.

My wife and my bike for the 1st Eroica in South Africa. We can't wait, its going to be a weekend to remember seeing many friends from all over the country.

My wife's Zini Reynolds 501 tubing with Shimano 600 groupset. Some old 6200 and newer tricolour parts. Brooks B17 in honey, for my honey!

My Alpina Columbus SLX with Dura-Ace groupset. Various DA series from 1st gen levers and callipers and newer 8spd derailleurs. Unfortunately my old Brooks has seen better days and will not last the Eroica so I really, really need a new Brooks saddle please!

I have an old 80s Le Jeune in mint condition which I would like to ride Eroica with. She has full Shimano 105 groupset and has such a beautiful look. Previous owner put on a yellow Sella Italia saddle (which looks alright) but a Brooks would just complete the look of this beauty.

So this is my entry :)

I will be riding Le Eroica South Africa on my Le Jeune. As you can see I have ridden many happy kilometers on it, but still not 100% sorted with regards to saddle comfort (can you spot 3 of the different saddles I have tried?). Maybe the #eroicabrooks337 will sort that out... (I will be taking it in to my bike shop soon to get 100% Eroica ready in case you are wondering).

A Classic Bicycle Needs a Classic Saddle !

This South African built 80s Peugeot Classique hadn't been loved for a long time but that's about to change.

A light but durable Tange steel frame with enough clearance to mount some bigger tyres makes this an ideal frame for L'Eroica. This Classique has a typical 80s mix of components . Bullet proof Mavic open 4 CD rims are laced to a set of Suntour Superbe Pro hubs. Suntour Cyclone derailleurs and shifters matched to a Stronglight chainset makes up the drivetrain. Lightweight CLB calipers will take care of the braking but need to be matched to some as yet unfound brake levers. These are to be mounted on a classic combination of Nitto bars and stem.

A fine Brooks saddle for all day comfort , would be the crowning jewel to make this Classique feel loved again !

So here is my Erioca bike. It is a  "Peugeot Vitus". According to the previous owner the bike was built up by Chris Willemse in the early 80's. I got the bike pretty much complete with all the period correct components right from the downtube shifters to the old school water bottle. Unfortunately the hub on the front wheel is broken and needs to be replaced. Apart from the broken hub and a good polish all this beauty needs is the special Brooks saddle to go with the other special components on this bike.post-51655-0-06662400-1458207883_thumb.jpgpost-51655-0-57144000-1458207903_thumb.jpgpost-51655-0-18707300-1458207921_thumb.jpgpost-51655-0-17812300-1458207957_thumb.jpgpost-51655-0-11066800-1458248371_thumb.jpg
