Bikes of the Epic: Adriaan Louw’s SwiftCarbon Evil Twin

· By BikeHubCoreAdmin · 16 comments

Adriaan Louw is riding his trusted SwiftCarbon Evil Twin in the 2016 Absa Cape Epic. Team Contego SwiftCarbon took the opportunity to come up with a custom paint scheme. They allowed Adriaan to create his own design and enlisted the services of Bogus Designs to pull it off.

The bike features a custom tuned Fox Float Factory shock which Adriaan runs at 90 psi. Adriaan uses a Thomson seatpost and titanium saddle rails for reliability while mounting and dismounting during the race. The South Industries rims provide a wider profile than many cross-country race rims allowing Adriaan to comfortably run his Continental Race King tyres at around 18 to 20 psi.

Nice pics and brief review Nick, about the best bit of insight so far on the Epic coverage.

Would be nice to hear some of Adriaan's other specific choices, such as pedals, bars stem seatpost etc.

Great to see a bike that has been properly ridden too - all the telltale signs of a well thrashed bike.

Given the rest of the substandard coverage I think you guys at the Bikehub have a real opportunity this week to fill a gap (thats if the Epic allows you to).

Would be great if you could have a look at LB Knipe's tricked out Pyga and Bart Brentjens hardtail.

(please just not another essworks).

Keep up the good work.

That is the sticker you get when you register. You know, the one that everyone keeps on their bikes 5 years later so that the riding buddies know that said rider has done epic.

the same one that reduces your bike's resale value by 30% when you sell it :)

No way it would turn out anything other than awesome if Bogus got hold of it.

I just love these bikes. Decent setup.

Just for interest. What wheel size are these bikes?

I cant make out if 27.5" or 29".
