  1. Does cat1 = elites, cat2=30+, cat3=40+ or is age irrelevant?
  2. The brazen bastard is probably still high from his all-night drug use looking to fund his next fix. That section is filled with criminality and drug houses that the City and business owners should clean up. It's been in decline for years. One would think an ostensibly innocuous portion of the main road would be fine but are cyclists safe anywhere? Pleased that you came off only mildly scathed.
  3. Lakeside must be 20-plus kays. A great warm-up though.
  4. Some may have missed the play. 🙂
  5. Nah, dude! It's all great fun, notwithstanding a teensy-tiny minority of "unpleasant" riders. But, you always have your one-day events in Europe to fall back on.
  6. I thought that headline referred to those teenage kids during the holidays—two of their favourite pastimes.
  7. Hello hubland, Seeking some advice for my snapped derailleur short of buying a new one for now. Can it be bonded in some way?
  8. If you're riding regularly one gym session is just fine. Experiment with one weight training session and one plyometric-type session with just bodyweight exercises and see how you cope.
  9. If you come from many years of being active, marathons in your case, it's likely that you'll be cycling for a long time, as opposed to giving it up as a novelty after a few months. So, instead, save up a little more and aim for a better-specced used bike than what R5K will get you. At R5K you WILL need to upgrade here and there in the first couple of years which would be costlier in the long run. Keep a keen eye on the classifieds, bargains may pop up and knowledgeable hubbers can offer opinions.
  10. Interesting! I do wonder if Gucci will release me from my contract.
  11. I remember these bendable little aluminium discs that cost R1 per annum. Amusingly as a kid, I was stopped one early dusk in my neighbourhood by a copper on his motorbike. At first, I thought the traffic intervention was for riding with no light but the official was looking for this licence disc I had not had. Somewhat bemused I was let off with a warning and my dad hastily attended to this important matter.
