Friday afternoon. Left the office at 4:35. Through traffic, found parking, had my race number in my hands at 4:57
  5. dankie dis oor ek so min met hom ry en ek het my nuwe lig nou op my MTB gesit. daar's nog plek vir een "gadget" op die handlebars langs die 2 ligte, die cat-eye en die klokkie. wat stel jy voor?
  6. fixed! the cables rusted inside the housing. Chain lubed un-rusted it. And if it gets stuck during the rae, I'll know which cable to pull to make it come unstuck. thanx for all the help!
  7. no, Legend, that will never do! i was in the small chainring all the way on the OFM - even on the freeway with the wind in my back ... i'm a mountainbiker and need all the granny-gears that i can lay my feet on!
  8. dankie maar ek's in jozi, en werk in die middae sal kyk of die chainlube die ding doen.
  9. Removed the bubblewrap (from the Argus) the other day from my roadbike, dusted it, & rode the OFM. Noticed that the gears would not change from the big chainring to the smaller one. (It was fine on the Argus; I just never used the bike in the meantime.) Totally forgot about it .... & now it's too late to try get space at a cycleshop to get it fixed Will need the smaller chainring on Sunday for the hill next to my house. Any suggestions about things that i can try to fix this myself??
  10. Starting in I. no punctures and no accidents! anything under 3:30 will be a bonus.

  13. Wind like yesterday afternoon will not be great
  14. Cois, it is often safer to not stop at traffic lights when there's no-one around (like 5 in the morning) - whether by car or by bicycle. i generally don't cycle when there's no-one around though ... being female and cycling to work (or where-ever) on my own, i prefer to do it when there's lots of people around (it gives me a false sense of security)
  15. I agree with you, Icycling, the cyclist should make damn sure that it is safe ... but that is only half the story. Even if it is safe to do so, disrespecting traffic rules may cause motorists to disrespect cyclists. I don't want motorists to take their frustration about other cyclists out on me
  16. i SO agree with you, SP !! i often cycle to work and don't want the peak-hour-traffic-motorists p'd off !!!
