  1. ** Disclaimer*** I'm no medical anything, I have read up a little bit on HRV and this is only my understanding of it. You need to get a baseline over a couple of days, one measurement wont tell you anything. Once you have a baseline you monitor it daily, trying to measure it under the same conditions every day. The variability will then tell you if something is wrong. This something could be stress, over excursion, lack of sleep etc. Thats where it get complicated and having an app to help.
  2. theyre miles better than the gatorskins I was using for so many years
  3. I've just purchased HRV4Training app for iphone, going to give it a go and see what data and feedback I get from it. They say you can use it with a HR Strap or use the camera, I'll try both and see
  4. I've done just over 4000km with the Pirelli Cinturatos on my bike, granted I'm running 28mm, but they have been awesome.
  5. ive seen him pop up on my recommended YT feed, guess I now need to dig a little deeper .
  6. the problem I see there is that from that road you dont really see magnificence of having an ocean either side of you, sure the trees must be spectacular, but the water is hidden from you. still wont say no if someone offered me a ride there.
  7. I take my hat off to the organisers that have to make those tough decisions. More than a year of work, negotiations, organising, it's not an easy decision to stop, cancel or postpone an event.
  8. Similar happened to me on the way to Cape Town the one year. We stopped at the Engen at Beaufort Wes and wanted to open the trailer to get our extra Padkos out. Oops, left the keys at home. A guy with one of those work bakkies with the big toolbox built into the back stops next to us, so we ask him if he has a grinder or hacksaw, he takes one look at the lock, leans into his toolbox and grabs 2 big spanners, next thing boom, no more lock. I learnt a lesson that day.
  9. We used to clean and regrease the bearings on the trailer too after each trip
  10. This H2O stuff seems to be a slippery character that uses a number of aliases.
  11. google tells me either name is correct, but I'm open to be educated.
  12. well I figured that the ones helping themselves to the water wont google what hydrogen oxide is. Its worked thus far.
  13. When people keep stealing you water from the fridge at work.
  14. you learnt 2 lesson that day * Dont trust the locks on the bike rack * Car guards are not car guards but rather parking attendants, they have neither the skill nor the will power to put themselves in harms way to protect someone else's property. (blanket statement I know)
  15. When I was at Volvo we had the issue where phones would not activate Carplay when plugged in with cheaper cables, once the people used genuine cables or good quality cables then it worked. Saw it again last month with my Garmin Edge, I plugged it in to the laptop using one of the many usb cables I have for charging lights and other devices and it would charge but do nothing else. Tried a few different cables until I found what was probably the genuine cable that came with the Garmin and then it all worked.
  16. have you ever tried riding against the traffic ? There is a small section of road near my place, sometimes its safer to head against the traffic instead of crossing 4 busy lanes twice to get home. I've done it a handful of times but its scary AF seeing a car heading for you.
  17. its so you can look into the eyes of the idiot behind the wheel before he hits you
  18. shot man. yeah that first 30m or so before you turn to the boom is nasty. No light weight carbon bike here. I'm pretty chuffed with the time, I think there may be a little more in me on fresher legs, I did a 27km TT the saturday morning on my loop around the airport so was already a bit fatigued. As for the photo op, I was going to stop on the way down, then decided that since my mate lives up there (basically at the top of Kallanbach, in the gated street) I'll just grab a pic from his place when we get back. I didnt do it.
  19. I was taught from a young age that you run or walk facing traffic
  20. are you using the genuine cable ? Alot of cables dont have all the pins connected, so they will charge but not communicate.
  21. dont get me started on shopper and shopping carts
  22. one of the great things about that road is the amount of cyclists on it, there is bound to be someone that will stop and help.
  23. No cool photos. Did a ride with mates this morning. Managed to knock of 1m50 off my previous best up Linksfield at the beginning of the ride. Then on the way back we rode it again, I didn’t beat my fresh legs time from earlier in the morning but was still 30s quicker than my previous PR. Current standing on Strava for the day has me as 4th quickest. Oh and total elevation for the ride came on at 953m, for Jhb that’s decent over 60km
  24. The problem is the initial phase (which we are still sitting with) was designed for the 2010 WC, it was supposed to be expanded, never did
  25. I tried to price one for a mate in November, we could not get the EasyFolds at Volvo
