  1. Was having breakkies earlier after our ride, sitting at Hans and Lloyd when an elderly gent walks past coffee in hand. I greeted and we started chatting. He is one of the original 7, no longer ride the race because he has a heart issue, but still rides 3 times a week. was lekker chatting to him, it would be really cool to sit with him around a braai and listen to all the stories he has to tell.
  2. And when there is wind passing over tugging the number.
  3. I was just out of camera to the left of this pic. They turned around after taking the pic just as I got there.
  4. Picked up 2 sets of those too. Been looking for something like that for a while now, I loathe sticking safety pins through expensive cycling tops.
  5. I was hoping for some good discounts on bibs from my 2 favorites , Vye or Ciovita. Vye has discontinued the mirage bib (new one coming out) so no stock, Ciovita looked like inflated pricing to me so gave them a skip too. did pick up some fresh Versus socks for myself and the wife, and some CTCT souvenirs for the family. oh and a Squirt refill.
  6. Heading through Worcester yesterday. phone stuck out of sunroof
  7. Us too. Just cruised through Hanover
  8. we all know his name is Dale, Cannon Dale.
  9. Mine was incredibly slow and buggy, but over the weekend there were updates installed and it appears to be working much better now.
  10. reading these words from someone that is always positive and strong hits hard. In your profession you probably know every trick in the book to try and stay positive, but just know that you can lean on the community here for support when you need it. We are like the marines, no man gets left behind.
  11. For many years, as a weekend warrior, just finishing the 100km was an accomplishment. Heck the first couple of times I did it the wind blew dust into my eyes as I crossed the finish line, thats how much of an achievement it was for me. I try not to forget that,
  12. Does my bike need to go through road worthy to register for a CAA reg plate ? 😄
  13. might be a bit late for everyone else to do anything about it, I'll probably only go on friday or saturday
  14. As I've understood it, the one we have for 947 is a permanent one and should work for CTCT. I'll be taking mine with to the expo to confirm.
  15. Todays long term forecast that peak in the wind is as you get out of Simon’s town and over Smits
  16. are you asking about adding the route to the app ? I've done the race before, so I link it to Strava and pull past rides from strava into the app.
  17. I've been using Garmin (not the dual) for plenty of years. Got my first one with my edge 130 probably 8 years ago. Only last year did it start with erratic readings because the strap started to come apart. Changed batteries on the transponder thing a number of times and transferred that to the new strap. Maybe I'm just gentle on my stuff, the only thing I do though in terms of taking care of it is to rinse with fresh water after every ride.
  18. I'm to scared to do this calculation. And petrol about to go up R1.21 on the day that we leave. Going to try and get a full tank in before the price goes up.
  19. must have been the cyclists fault. He probably was not wearing a hi viz jacket, was not riding in the dirt on the side of the road and his bike did not have a number plate.
  20. FFS!!! Sending healing vibes Dale, this is getting ridiculous now.
  21. this makes for some interesting comparisons, especially the fact that it has the 2022 responses in too.
  22. All the points above is why I often land up either pulling the group or being right at the pointy end. I find the further back you go the less etiquette there is. Between that elastic band effect, getting stuck behind dead wheels and people just not holding a proper line, its nerve racking and frustrating at the back.
  23. or go around the next corner
