  1. Megan, once you have that new front light, please consider using it everytime you ride on the road, regardless of ambient light at the time.
  2. Day 2, another 1h24m of run time, still on 80%. The screen seems to be slowly getting better, maybe some heat from the sun will sort it out properly. Lets just say I'm rather chuffed with the new battery, no more daily charging and "range anxiety" like i used to have.
  3. theres an idea. most (if not all) these devices get charged via usb, so if one could utilise internal cable routing to a central point connecting to a compact usb hub that can then either be connected to a power bank for mobile charging or external usb charger for "docked" charging. currently i have a charging station setup in a drawer beside the bed, 1 usb cable supplying power to a usb hub inside the drawer, from there each device has a self retracting usb cable, but if this could all be done on the bike whilst stored in the garage that would be awesome.
  4. I often get asked what my fastest speed i've seen on my bike, back when I was young and dumb and full on invincibility riding a steel frame with 19mm tyres I hit some crazy speeds, these days I'm a good 20km/h slower, not because I cant physically go faster, but because I cant mentally let myself go faster.
  5. THIS being the biggest problem in this country, the laws are there, but are only enforced when its convenient and easy to do
  6. i.e. dont pop a wheelie over the finish line because your tjip wont be aligned
  7. 1) yeah right, when ? They've been Timing 947 for the last 2 years already. 2) hopefully the children that designed the interface have developed some new skills by now and will improve it drastically in the next version.
  8. That BL group would have been our faster of the 2 groups, I was in the second BL group
  9. many years ago when we first started doing "the august" , 2 or 3 pink buses would pull into Fish Hoek over the same weekend. These buses were full of Swedish (at least I seem to recall them being swedish) students on some sort of back packing holiday. It sure was a sight to behold
  10. doubt a motorbike of that age would have a tracker in it, there is a much better chance that the cyclist had some sort of GPS device tracking his ride. Also someone mentioned it was an ebike
  11. I think its how I lifted the screen off the casing, I may have partly separated the electronics from the LCD. Because when it was apart, if you push on that area the discoloration shifts. In the dark, with the back light on, it made that corner hard to see, but once there was sunlight around it was not an issue.
  12. first test this morning, 1h27m run time. Everything appeared to work as it should, and only 10% battery drop as opposed to the 50-60% drop I was getting out of the battery that I took out. So far so good.
  13. Has anyone heard any more info on the bike jacking this morning on Rondebuilt Rd Boksburg, close to the sink hole ? We were on route, pretty close by, when some cyclists came from the opposite direction and warned us, so we decided to rather turn around and ride a different route.
  14. is that why you put earlugs in when you ride ? Harleys are noisy from the factory, and then people go and put louder pipes on
  15. I started reading, left a comment, tried to carry on reading and decided the juice wasnt worth the squeeze. People are *holes
  16. Hahaha, not so certain. The bottom of the screen now has some discoloration, but I can live with that.
  17. I had a few words with some guys on twitter earlier today who seemed to think cyclists on chappies feel entitled and should go and ride somewhere else, I gave up very soon as it was the usual rhetoric and I did not feel like getting agitated.
  18. I broke it. stays on wait for gps, doesn’t seem to be picking up signal. opened it up again but can’t see anything obvious. eish!!!! edit. its working. it seems to be that the aerial for the gps runs around the casing of the garmin, these connect with little connectors to the pc board. But when I put the board back the wires from the battery prevented the board going down all the way, this means the aerial was not connecting. as soon as I rerouted the wires and fastened the board all the way down it picked up signal.
  19. Don’t know, don’t own either of those. Although I suspect the BOA has a bigger torx
  20. I’ll have uses for the other bits, I’m always taking things apart and having to make a plan because I never have the correct tool
