  1. DOH!!!! Looks like old age is catching up with me, losing my memory it seems. I looked it up this morning and I started in 2A last year too.
  2. Just got an email stating they have stock again, placed an order. Shipping was much more than the actual battery, but still relatively cheap. hopefully I get it in time to install and test properly before CTCT
  3. I’d better bring my big boy pants to Cape Town. They got me in 2A, if I can hold onto them it will be a fast one (for me). my time last year would put me in the top 100 of 2A, target time for this year would put me in the top 20. BLIKSEM!!
  4. if I visit their Rosebank office, how long would it take for them to asses the battery on my edge 130 and offer a replacement ?
  5. so do you then carry a second bottle with just water for hydration purposes ? because 2.5-3 servings in one bottle is not going to keep you hydrated enough.
  6. My wife works for one of the large international Audit firms, the africa division has just started the process of culling about 30% of their workforce in SA.
  7. I read NSBBs post as per you second point. i.e. some sort of medical reason why the person should rather ride and e-Bike. all the above speak to the fitness point in NSBBs post. Its not always a negative point though, Maybe the person just doesnt want to dedicate the hours and hours of training to be fit enough to commute to work without sweating, by all means, e-Bike is the right tool. Want to get up the mountain quicker so that you can clap more descents, go for it. but at the end of the day, the real reason boils down to fitness. And thats OK. Which is why I asked the question of you. Because to me, if you really break it down, there are on 2 reasons to ride and ebike. And I'm not saying thats a bad thing.
  8. This concoction was easy to drink, but I found it did not give my body what it needed on longer rides.
  9. Chris, please explain if this thinking is wrong
  10. re: FinishTime They seem to be a problem every race they do the timing for. So how do we, as the end user, vote for change ? Ordinarily you'd vote with your wallet, but if we want to do the races thats not really an option. Mass emails to the event organisers ? Mass emails to FinishTime ?
  11. IMHO no need to for the more expensive Race Pro, the normal Race does the job for most of us. Even when I'm redlining it for an entire Grand Fondo, Race works for me. (although I do supplement with energy gel)
  12. It’s finish time. The duffed everything. I can’t understand how it’s so bloody difficult to get something right that others have been doing for 20 years. oh and again, they must have not had much awareness around road closures etc. for this race, my sister stays just off of Cedar, when we met for lunch today she asked what was happening, she had no idea there was a race on.
  13. And we added springs just to make sure
  14. ok, so they were getting the dust and cobwebs off last week in anticipation for the above.
  15. I have another solution my BIL works for an arms manufacturer in another country, his team created drones that autonomously take out ground to air missiles. A bit of reprogramming and you could have these drones following you taking out the perps.
  16. its was in celebration of their birthday

  18. My many years of experience fishing amongst Hippos in the wild has taught me that they will give ample warning before charging or attacking. Make sure you dont underestimate their speed, both in water and on land. But in general if you give them space, heed their warnings, you'll be fine. Just never become complacent.
  19. I work directly under the flight path, had many many fly byes over the week or so that they were flying. Really awesome to see and hear, especially when they give it beans, the very first one to fly over shook the building, it was low,it was fast, it was loud.
  20. agreed, it would require breaking the law. but let say you're on the open road, overtaking. you're three quarters of the way past the car you're overtaking and realise you've made an error in judgement and now need to get past that slower vehicle much quicker or you face a collision with something. yes the situation should not happen. in an ideal world the vehicle you are overtaking could slow down to let you in, there also would not be a queue of cars preventing you from hitting the brakes and slotting back in behind the vehicle you are overtaking. but we dont live in an ideal world, we are humans and make mistakes, we have egos that wont let another person pass us, we are in a hurry to get to our destination because the sofa's that we are driving are not comfortable enough. perhaps a better option would be that your car is able to go speed limit + 30km/h but only for a short period and then it reverts back to only going the speed limit again.
  21. In and ideal world no laws would be broken, but until there is active policing anarchy will prevail.
  22. for getting out of a potentially dangerous situation.
