  1. and as for the cost, it is billed as a charity fund raiser, so consider the R750 a charity donation. If I'm not mistaken if you enter something like the 947 or CTCT under a charity it is also a rather steep fee
  2. Taking my moms experience into account this scares me. After a week in hospital she came home only to develop life threatening blood clots which saw I us doing a high speed rush from Alberton to Sandton clinic.
  3. Of FFS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its like coitus interruptus B.T.W. I see nothing on the website and I've received no communication.
  4. mate of mine stays on top of linksfield ridge There are 3 ways to get to his place after a ride, Kallanbach, Silvias Pass or Cyrildene.
  5. Stillis, 220 000km on it and it still sings
  6. e90 I did not enjoy the couple of drives I had in the 335. Sure they are wicked fast, but I found the turbo(s) changed the character of the motor to much. There is just something magical about revving up a normally aspirated engine to the redline, especially something as smooth as the straight 6 in the 330i. Correct, the newer 330i's are 2l 4 pots
  7. I've got a 2005 330i, manual. Love that motor. A week or 2 back we traded in a 2019 330i so I was eager to take it for a spin. It will smack 10 kinds of snot out of my car performance wise, but it sounds like a bloody golf), I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would
  8. WIFI at work, wifi at home
  9. A bit of a relief and bit of disappointment. Relief that I wont have to struggle up TJ, but disappointment in that I've never done the race and it would have been interesting to test my new found fitness up TJ.
  10. well thanks to you and all the others that did not commute this year I have made it to the first page, should grab 14th spot tomorrow.
  11. would have been hilarious to see the Volvo driver in the posted video trying to drive into him, anything above walking speed activates the City Safety system which means the car will automatically slam on brakes if it senses you are going to drive into something like a cyclist. Its very frustrating when you have the rage and you try and scare someone but the car doesnt let you.
  12. watching movies, reading the newspaper, eating a bowl of cereal...... seen so many stupid things.
  13. I'm with you. During lockdown I was going through my cycling album with my girls, it was nice to see how I had progressed, changed kit, change/upgraded bikes etc. , but I really cant justify buying pics from them for every race anymore (actually I stopped regularly buying from them around 2010 or so)
  14. that would be cool for the pure novelty factor
  15. I see they're getting a bit desperate now, offering discounts on photos from races that happened in 2018
  16. distance / elevation gain will give you gradient. Easiest it to plot it in Strava or Komoot and let them work it out for you
  17. I saw this earlier, very impressive. And the car atleast (to me) is way more attractive looking than a Bugatti
  18. Its easy, when you have no money you cant spend money
  19. lol, boys will be boys. Loved it
  20. 20km shy of hitting 15th place , maybe I should take a slight detour home to added the extra few km so that I grab the spot tonight
  21. Firstly let me just state that I’ve this month handed over my R600 to Strava as my subs expired. But to answer your question, yes and no. For many years I used Cyclemeter to capture my rides, basic analysis was free, the they came out with elite subs that gave you more analysis. I had 3 problems with Cyclemeter 1) data was stored on your phone, thus not always backed up. 2) no web version 3) I want to analyze my data the way I want, not what you think I want. So Strava was suggested to me. At first I resisted, but I eventually I got hooked on segments. But I liked the fact that there are plugins like intervals.icu and statshunter and various others so you can analyze data as you like. I understand why they brought in the subscriptions, I just think they charge to much and crippling the free version was poor form.
  22. One of the things I learnt from commuting. Don’t ride in the gutter, the closer you are to the drivers line of site the better the chances of being seen. Obviously don’t be a chop about it, but to far to the left, especially in bad light and your chances of being seen diminish way to much.
  23. there really is space in the market for an independent platform that allows you to store all your ride info in the cloud with tools or the ability to add tools that allow all sorts of drill down into the data. I moved to Strava because it was the closest thing to what I needed/wanted when it came to data storage and having tools/addons/plugins that could analyse my data.
