  1. Playing cards were for rookies, we used cut up yoghurt cups. Louder and lasted longer. The neighborhood must have hated us.
  2. Interesting. I may just know someone that knows someone. Will ask.
  3. Dealerships buy their own stock and demos. (well for most brands, there may be some that work differently) Stock gets sold between dealerships at cost prices, this is why you can buy a car that is sitting on another dealerships floor, mutual agreements between dealers.
  4. as a self confessed petrol head I'm in total agreement with your post. loud exhausts etc. belong on the track, not in suburbia. Nothing worse than sitting down relaxing at home and some dimwit a few roads away decides to see if he can get one of his pistons to exit the exhaust whilst the vehicle is stationary.
  5. ok just watched those clips you linked, might not need a bracket.
  6. Current one, R6.5k replace - already have anti theft bracket Newly launched one - R8.5k plus its a different shape so will need new anti theft bracket. But, its been a bit of work with the insurance today, useless bunch. So waiting for reports etc. from Centurion to submit to insurance, will then start negotiating upgrades.
  7. Its not so bad on a sunny day, but rainy days is when it sucks. Also the security aspect of it, having the wife get out the car to open the gate when she picks the kids up from school is a worry
  8. Ouch, R2.5k repair bill. Waiting for them to quote on new motor and then will approach homeowners insurance to see if they will cover it.
  9. I see they used an image of your team in their Insta ad
  10. motor is with centurion today. It worked perfectly right up until monday morning. Then started its nonsense again. The entire week we have been using the gate manually, I finally got a gap last night and took the motor out, dropped it off this morning. Initial courtesy inspection at Centurion reveals an oil seal leaking and contaminating the sensor pickup on the shaft, but they will assess and quote in the next few days. Apparently can take up to 3 working days for them to quote on it.
  11. but as with most of their rewards to get anything worthwhile you need to have the credit card.
  12. lol reminds me of an incident many years ago. A group of us pull up to a traffic light on a slight incline, I lean over to the left to lossen the strap, but somehow I think because of the incline of the road and the angle I was at I fell over to the right. Bouncing off my thigh and right in front of the car waiting at the light. Much lols were had at the time.
  13. I've never been on a Wattbike, I know extremely little about them, but I have a friend trying to get into triathlons and he is asking questions. The extent of this guys tracking when we ride is a seldom working wired cycle computer. He has been wanting to get into triathlons and has enlisted a coach to help him train. The coach has given him a training program which he now needs to follow. On the coaches recommendation he has registered on Strava, but obviously now he needs to get data off the Wattbike at the gym. I'm assuming at the very least he needs some sort of fitness watch for HR data. Do the Watt bikes at the gym allow you to connect to them to get the data from them whilst you ride ?
  14. if you like the loud hubs but cant afford the expensive stuff then just revert back to your childhood days and stuck a piece of cardboard in the spokes
  15. did not commute at all last week due to being sick. This week the weather up here looks like it going to stay wet.
  16. Instant KOM for a few hour at best, then someone stronger than me will come through and smash it. I'm not worried about getting the KOM, just setting my own personal records and like to compare how badly I do against the strong guys. Although there are a few segments around where I could swear the leaders did not do those times under their own steam. But maybe that just me being weak.
  17. the official segment seems to turn around at the top by the robot. I normally turn left there on my commute, but have done the right turn once or twice during training rides. I see though that Strava actually calculates your time to somewhere just before the robot.
  18. I was thoroughly enjoying my bike yesterday, everything just felt right, and it got me thinking. Should something happen, and the bike needs replacement, using only the insurance payout, what would you replace your current bike with ? Now my bike is nothing fancy, but I immedeatly thought of replacing with like for like. Only, I have made a few customisations like carbon bars, different saddle and then there is also the Garmin plus sensors. Which got me thinking if the insured amount would be enough. So would you replace with the new model of what you have ? would you need to bargain down the new bike in order to fit in the customisations ? This is all hypothetical of course, just a fun discussion.
  19. I saw this, then immediately thought they copied Garmin. Except its worse, you have to try and remember hashtags
  20. Quick update on thisMy current PR is 3:47 in commute mode.
  21. Been off the bike for a week, plus today was my anniversary so wanted to be back early, so just did a short one. Did klap 2 PRs, the first one I’m still 2 min slower than LWB but finished 5th fastest for the day according to Strava. Second one is an incline outside my neighborhood, it’s the end of the ride so I normally cruise up, but lately I’ve been attacking it, today I’m fastest for the day according to Strava.
  22. Maybe they're reading this thread, or maybe they heard the agitation in my voice yesterday and made a plan, but I got a call a short while ago to say my new shoes have arrived at the shop.
  23. pretty much. If the legs dont feel tight when you walk it feels like something is wrong.
  24. I think I may need to start demanding my money back. we're heading to the end of week 3 since i took the shoes back. Todays excuse, the supplier sent them the wrong replacement shoe. When will I get my new shoes ? They cant tell me, it will come in with the next shipment from the supplier, and they dont know when that will be.
  25. and the reality is the mechy will probably only get max 50% of that rate.
