  1. Right, so my mate is doing his 21st CTCT in March. We started riding together many years back, somehwere along the line I skipped one that he did, so my 21st is next year. Anyway, he is very unfit and refuses to have me ride slowly with him, but I think it would be awesome if we cross the line together. So what I'm thinking of doing is riding my race, then cycle back to somewhere along the route, for instance Camps Bay or somewhere else easily accessible, and then ride with him to the end. My question is 2 fold a) other than doing the entire route a second time, where would be the easiest place to cycle back to ? I dont really want to be that guy cycling in the opposite direction to everyone else, so somewhere with an alternative route to get to. b) what will happen with my timing when I cross the finish line a second time an hour or 2 after I crossed it the first time ?
  2. you must have been motoring to do that route in that time, way to many intersections etc.
  3. Bleeding through my eyes this morning. Was holding on by a thread the entire time, then with 10km to go they decided to form a paceline, I managed to hold on for about 5km, then we slowed momentarily for a traffic light, when the boys put the hammer down again I was done.
  4. There is also the possibility that the new battery is flat. Sometimes they’ve been on the shelves for years.
  5. The sunrise was absolutely gorgeous this morning
  6. you seem to be a magnet for cars. Insurance must love you.
  7. There are/is 1 or 2 gents that do this on our morning rides. I’m not a fan at all.
  8. My spread sheet says, based on avg weekly mileage, I'll finish on 9380, but if we break that down to avg daily mileage it predicts 10649. (since I found out you can link a spreadsheet to intervals.icu I've been geeking at numbers a little bit)
  9. Early morning ride with @Dexter-morgan and the group for the LBS. Did a few km extra to pip my total for the month over 900km. My biggest month ever.
  10. that pic wont look as cool with a GS parked there.
  11. having wasted many hours on golf courses doing just that, I can assure you that this only ticks the box that says "i tried something different that was not a mall display" Golf days are piss ups and ego stroking days, you dont sell cars doing this.
  12. I suspect CL is just getting the word out there so the community can be on the look out.
  13. Have started joining the group from the LBS who like to ride at the crack of a sparrows fart in the morning. Done a few rides with them, still getting used to the dynamics, but it’s good fun.
  14. That is them. Used to fatten up on Russian and Chips often when I worked in Kempton.
  15. Sorry it’s Olympia cafe. Monument rd Kempton park
  16. the motor industry has been having a tough time since Covid, and budgets are being cut everywhere. But if you want your brand to gain traction, sponsorships like this are the way to go. Suzuki has gotten it right over the last few years, sponsoring everything everywhere, and their sales show it. Well done Ford.
  17. you should work in retail and see the requests you get. Things like "why arent you open on christmas day, I wanted buy my wife a car" or "can I come on sunday to see your cars" We forget that the people working at these places are human.
  18. With Aspire installed v20.3 (I think thats the version I've got) is very buggy, crashes often.
  19. I'm going to have to get this sorted before Winter, or maybe even before CTCT. Garmin reports it was around 10deg this morning. I took the 130 off of charge as I headed out the door, 1 hour in and it tells me battery low, I check and its on 20%. It did last until the end of the ride, but clearly its on its last legs.
  20. Played a little with it last night, changed the skin to the Kodi look which I prefer. Also found how to stream live TV, watch a few minutes of Formula E. Still has a bit of lag here and there.
  21. Following on from this, but completely off topic Check this out https://www.artofmanliness.com/style/shaving/how-to-shave-with-safety-razor/ I've been using a safety razor for 15 years now and its the best thing I ever did, none of these fancy razors from your article ever gave me a proper shave. To bring it back on topic, I guess its the equivalent of going single speed
  22. Installed last night. It took a very long time. Also seems very sluggish, but it may still be doing its thing in the background because of the fresh install. I didnt play to much because 3/4 of the way through the install the wife came through to watch TV, so I got it to the point where we could stream one of the series we've been watching and left it at that. Will play some more tonight.
