  1. decided to not ride. Its only 20km, but I know me, I won't take it easy, and the way I've been feeling the last 2 days its better to listen to my body.
  2. tough time to start something new, wish you the best of luck
  3. I realised yesterday morning when my garmin battery died just how often I look down at it during a ride.
  4. I wonder how many activities my 130 can store ?
  5. I was feeling knackered on the ride home last night, so the plan was to take the next couple of days off the bike completely, so wont be doing both for sure.
  6. always thought this was a Zwift race when I saw it pop up in various places, never looked into it. I've entered, may just add a few extra km to my commute tomorrow or just go out after work and do a ride, will see how I feel in the morning.
  7. We have one of those red and white telkom communication towers right behind our house, it is often hit. But normally I’m inside so no big deal, but the one day I was outside, when you hear the bang and see the flash at exactly the same time it makes you jump, like really high.
  8. I just called my wife to let her know that she'll be getting a whatsapp live location link instead of the garmin livetrack link tonight. didnt want to just send the whatsapp link without first warning her, lest she panic that something was wrong.
  9. fascinating read. Thanks for the link.
  10. agreed Also, when I first got into cycling the coveted permanent number after 10 successful finishes at larger events was waved before me, when I got to 10 all I got was yellow on a random number. Issue those that have done 10+ at your event with a permanent number and link it to the QR code idea above and you already cut down on number collections. The expo as we used to know it has not been working for anyone for a while, both retailer and consumer, its time for something different. I can understand the need for a revenue generation angle to the festival of cycling, but what is currently in place is not working and dying.
  11. most people that have not lived on the South African highveld dont really know the dangers.
  12. whats happening at ORT ? Late last night we heard the sounds of jet engines much louder than normal. This morning again my wife working from home has messaged me to say its very loud.
  13. Sunday night I charged up my 130, commuted Tuesday and Wednesday, if I'm generous with the time the unit was on before and after each ride that is probably a total of 3 hours on time. Head out this morning and LiveTrack fails to start, no problem, I'm planning on stopping a few km from home to take a pic of the sunrise, so I'll just start it then. No such luck, as I hit the menu button on the Garmin it turns off. Battery flat. Ok, I know the distance, I'll just make note of the time when I stop at work and do a manual entry. No such luck, connect.garmin is offline this morning. I'm assuming the reason livetrack failed was because they are offline, dont know if thats what caused the head unit to die on me though. Luckily I have USB cables at the office, so have the unit on charge now. What it did show me was how reliant I was on the data to pace myself. Kept finding myself looking down at the unit only to be greeted with a blank screen.
  14. We should thank the OP for posting this. Even though it may not be a stolen item, getting flagged here as potentially stolen helps keep extra eyes on the market and could help in tracking down genuinely stolen items down the line.
  15. liked your post for the rack, the bike and the car
  16. hahaha During lockdown I made a little jump in the yard. I was hitting it and getting some decent air, or so I thought. I then setup my phone to record it. What a joke. But what it did show me was that I was basically bunny hopping over the lip of the ramp, a couple more runs and I was using the full ramp. But still not getting the air I thought I was getting.
  17. Did you know There are more planes in the ocean than ships in the sky

that was my biggest issue, I dont know what my ATM card and pin number are. I seem to recall being issued with a card like 20 years ago, never used it, I might have chucked it away.

I'm with ABSA In March they did an app upgrade, it broke something which meant I could not log in. Tried all the online channels to get it resolved, but it would not recognise my laptop as a registered device nor my phone, I had to go into the branch. This with the same phone, sim and laptop I've always used, edited to add: I'd rather have it this way than too easy for some scumbag to get into my account (not that he'd find anything in the account though)

  21. Slow cruise today, we’ll at least I tried to make it slow. Felt good to ride without an extra 5kg strapped to my back.
