  1. replacing jockey wheels because they're dirty is a bit drastic, but each to their own
  2. I see DC Rainmaker says they have added crash detection to the plus, but I'm 99% sure my normal 130 has crash detection already.
  3. with the weather in GP today I might just do this. Provided the family alloy me some me time today.
  4. Stalked someone for the first time on Strava today. Phoned a customer that I dealt with yesterday, got his voice mail, he phoned me back saying he just got off the bike, he'll call me back shortly. So I Strava stalked him. He did an indoor ride of 50km.
  5. I've been meaning to do that. Took the wheels off during lockdown for a proper clean and didnt have thread lock. still need to stock up.
  6. No, I think you're seeing this as black or white. I dont think Duane is saying ignore the virus, its more a case of be aware of it, take precautions, but know that main stream media is feeding on the hysteria. As always there are the 2 extremes and one needs to find the middle ground.
  7. from your description I'm scared to go down this worm hole. I love self fabricated stuff. I just recently binge watched all 31 (current) episodes of Project Binky. For those that dont know project binky, its 2 guys in the UK who in 2013 decided to stuff a Supra 2l AWD motor and drivetrain into an original Mini. The amount of time spent doing fabrication work and the thought and pre planning that has gone into it is amazing. They have only recently sent the body in to be sprayed, 7 years later.
  8. I did this from early on during lockdown, if I didnt I probably would have slashed my wrists by now.
  9. the thing is, when I took the gaurd off I knew it was a bad idea, I still made extra sure which way the sparks were going to go, but for some reason the thought of my hand getting into the disc was not on my mind. Lesson learnt.
  10. For years I suffered with post nazal drip induced sore throats, aggravated by riding in the cold, so the past few winters saw me riding with a buff anyway. This winter is no different.
  11. I'm equally skeptic about the guys that find dynasour bones and then can tell you what the dyno looked like and even what colour it was. How ? I can understand the bone structure, but what about how fat thin the thing was around the bone and then hair/skin/scales etc.
  12. yeah tehy work great for temps above around 4deg, below that your fingers get rather frosty.
  13. My bike took me nowhere, not even the planned commute to work. Sliced my knuckle open with an angle grinder yesterday, its not painful when its warmish, but when it gets cold it throbs, plus cant really bend the finger without splitting the wound open, so decided to give the commute a miss. Next few days are predicted to be wet up here on the East Rand, so it may be a while before I ride again.
  14. same reason we stopped going to the Vaal when we had a boat. By 11am there were to many drunk idiots piloting boats up and down the river for it to be enjoyable for us.
  15. what length were the stock ones ? do you still have them?
  16. Good move changing the saddle. Any reasons for changing the cranks to 105 ? (other than they're probably better)
  17. yeah the big problem in this country is not the driving limit but the total lack of respect for the law (by both society and law enforcement officials). You can make as many laws as you like, but if no body respects or enforces them they are useless.
  18. you now there is a wind chill factor when the water in your bottle is colder when you get home than what it was when you left work. Only felt cold on the bike for the first 5 minutes, once the body warmed up it was not bad at all.
  19. My eldest sister and I got hand me down cars, when it came to the youngest sister there were no hand me downs to give her. dad started looking at used Citi Golfs and Conquests and then they released the Tazz. 10k cheaper than a used conquest at the time. My dad comes to me one day, would you mind if your sis got a new car instead of second hand like you did. It was really a no brainer, a brand new reliable car vs a more expensive used car with questionable history. I think sometime parents underestimate their kids
  20. Ride was good last night. Only felt a little worried at 1 or 2 intersections where I needed to make sure no-one was going to skip the lights coming through from the side, but for the rest of the ride I never felt concerned. what does take getting used to is adjusting the eyes from oncoming car lights to then see whats in front of you, especially in the faster sections where you need to look further ahead. But that skill will come. Most cars gave me a wide berth when passing (theres always 1 or 2 idiots that dont though). Tonight will be the second trip in the dark, it bring a new dimension to riding.
  21. Yeah I'm going to have to play with the level of the light, dont need to be blinding anyone but still want to be able to see.
