  1. My quick google the other day revealed they can get up to 2000 lumens. But thats probably on brights and with both of them shining together. But then a car travels at a higher speed so it needs brighter lights.
  2. Wow, 1000 lumens is bright, like having your cars headlights on. Just took a spin around the ‘hood to test.
  3. The lights arrived yesterday. Charged them up over night and brought them to work to play with and get to know them before I mount them to the bike tonight. They really seem to be well made and are damn bright. I'm going to try and commute by bike tomorrow.
  4. have to agree, I find the same up here in JHB.
  5. +1New bike came with a Giant saddle, tried getting bu butt used to it, but eventually put the old Arione off the old bike on, straight away it was like sitting on your favorite spot on the couch.
  6. also saw the same type on top of table mountain in march
  7. yeah that saddle looks like is poised to poke you up the bum
  8. somebody copied their grannies crochet work
  9. Going to be honest here, the only time I worry what kit I'm riding in is for a race, every other time its what ever is available and clean when I reach into my cupboard.
  10. Once they classify them as motor vehicles they'll then need brake lights, turn signals number plates etc. It will get messy.
  11. The only reason I’m willing to pay. The current benefits won’t benefit me.
  12. I bought from Bike-Addict. But they're having supply issues at the moment. They confirmed with their supplier regarding stock before concluding my order, but the supplier is struggling to get them delivered. Its a pity, I was hoping to start commuting from 1 June, but I understand the backlogs due to lockdown.
  13. The Giant I have has this strange hybrid hydraulic brake system, cable from the levers actuate pistons in a master cylinder type thing that sits on the front of the stem, so Giant provides you with an attachment that bolts onto this so you can mount lights etc. This attachment though sits rather low under the stem, I'll need to see what it looks like once the light is on.
  14. These Lezynne ones. Was more than I wanted to spend, but needed front and rear and everything in my budget was very low in Lumens. I liked these because you can control both from the front light.
  15. 100%, when your rights impede on my rights is where the problem comes in. And just in case anyone starts throwing scenarios at this, its once again not black & white
  16. Likewise for me on many aspects. But as soon as my lights eventually arrive I'll commute to work by bike, that will atleast stop the body complaining that its not getting its daily does of exercise.
  17. This argument that keeps coming up of "if youve done wrong you cant comment on others doing wrong" holds no water. By that reasoning there is not a single person in this world that can make or enforce any laws/rules
  18. Hahaha, Funny enough that series of events that led to the itch had my Minister of Finance in agreement for once. The tipping point was seeing a local garden executive in our 'hood riding the exact same bike I had at the time.
  19. speaking of the porn , after the shutdown of our favourite thread I started following a few of the pros on insta, one of them being miss Batty. Now she is not normally my type looks wise, but the other day she post an image of herself standing over a bike in high heels and a black dress. That appealed to my senses.
  20. Let me shoot in here and answer this as I was a "its not about the bike" guy. For years I've ridden used ali bikes, upgraded bits and bobs on the bike to make it better and more comfortable. I've kept pace in races with much better machinery than what I had and always said as much as I'd like a new bike its not needed. Then last year a series of events led to an itch and I bought my current Giant Contend. Still an Ali bike and i guess if you look into it probably the equivalent being on the 2018 level of the older bikes I had. The difference is noticeable in a number of area. Comfort, responsiveness, how it rolls etc. I pulled out the old bike during lockdown and used it on the IDT and also did a loop on road once the restrictions eased, you can feel the difference right away. And those are the physical differences, the mental difference that makes you want to ride more is something that not measurable though. Did I need the new bike ? Heck no. But I equate it to driving my 2005 German sedan day in and day out, you dont need much more and feel like you're not really missing out, then you climb into a modern version of it for a drive and realise just how much things have changed.
  21. Glad to see they've gone the thru-axle route, mine still has QR. I went 28mm tyres on mine, and through a stroke of luck when I changed the bars to the correct width bars I picked up some Giant SL carbon bars from tehHub classifieds.
  22. Thanks, your answer follows what I suspected in term of traffic peak in May. Now just to retain those visitors.
  23. It might be a "thats the way is supposed to be" issue. The jacket I just got from Anatomic is similar, the body of the jacket fits nice and snug but the arms seems to be to long
