No, My question about speeding was more out of interest.

Passing anyone on that road is pure idiocy

its really about duty of care while operating a 1.5ton killing machine.

You may remember the whole in the wall in the Cape Technikon mechanical workshop wall that was created by a certain mr Beardwood forgeting to remove the chuck key when starting up a lathe. we all gave him a behoorlikke snotklap before TAP found out. Duty of Care.

Single file is impossible when you have 10,000 people squeezin in some training for CTCT. Its just not going to happen. CTCT is part of Cape Town culture. On the 12th March the roads will less full of MAMIL's. Imagine everyone on Chappies today was cycling single file? You'd have a long line of cyclists wobbling about 20km long.

I dropped a proposal with Mr Winde last year, to have Sunday Mornings between 6am and 9am only open to cycling and running traffic from the beginning of February till CTCT.

    ....crickets.......

The car will always win because fuel tax is government revenue and they will never bite that hand

    150% agree.

No one driver or motorcyclist adheres to it. That speed is sufficiently slow to demand all traffic only crawl up slowly. But every day it’s a race track with motorists forcing cyclists against the wall.
but remember to ride singlefile because not adhering to that Karen interpretation of the law makes you the biggest most vilified criminal in the world

There is a reason its 20km/h as on those roads, those cars cant stay in the lane.

There was an incident involving cyclists and motor bikes this morning on Chapman's peak.
They closed the road for a while.
Does anyone know anything more about it ?

Just know that the motorbike ended up on the wrong side of the road and was not doing the speed limit.

Wont share condition of the people as at this point what I have heard is hear say.

how do organisers police Ebikes that have their 'governing chip' removed. there are conversations doing the rounds after a recent seeding event where some results were questioned in an event that had no E Bike dedicated category. i was just thinking , i wouldn't like to be hit by an out of control 20kg Ebike at 25kph never mind 1 going down a hill even faster. Cycling regulations state that the bike may not be tampered with and altered in any way.

They just set a min time for event, faster than that and you  dont get a result.

  5. These topics are such nonsense and not changed in 10 years.

From all the horror in these photos and the tears and crys from Facebook. How many people were harmed by the cyclist riding 2 abreast on a 16m wide road?

Last week I was in the bike lane, riding single file and a lady in a Mercedes ran me over from a stop street. She just didnt look.

Maybe if I was riding like a **** in the middle of the road with 2000 lumen flashing light blinding everyone, three abreast with my mates I would not have gone to hospital, written my bike off and now have 8 weeks of recovery ahead of me.

You dont see cyclists moaning about the cars parked like a car park on main road due to traffic and the bikes having to slow down and navigate it.

As mentioned before, stock on the Supersix Gen 4 is a problem.

Would also like to know the ride quality between Supersix Gen 3 and Gen 4, is it worth the upgrade?

Cant fault the Supersix Gen 3...

I enjoyed the Gen 3 - I will roll the dice and ask around, maybe I am a 52cm all along and I just been riding a 54cm by mistake...

    LOVE my bike.
Bike is a little more stiff than the previous Evo ed3.
    Integration works just fine.

I know the local importers do have stock of limited sizes in this color at the moment.  You should ask your LBS to find out what is available.

WRT powermeter, I have opted for the Power2Max.

Do you ever ride in Cape Town?

Dont want to be twinning the whole time....

I at the time had the same dilemma, no stock of Cannonadle. I then made the bold move onto a Spez Atheos, I cannot rave enough about this bike, it's just simply the most amazing bike.

The bike has features taken from the Supersix evo  and the round tubing is timeless.

oh and it climbs like a wild animal

    Happy bike hunting

HAVE YOU SEEN ME ON A CLIMB!!!  I need whatever aero advantage I can get. I will ask around.

  9. Hi All,

Not been here for a while but as I got hit by a Mercedes, it looks like my last Cannodale is probably a write off.

I dont see any other topics discussing the latest Dale road bikes.

I see everything has gone integrated etc so slamming the stem is a little harder and they no longer do the spider crank.

I am liking this a little more than the SL8 where I think the headtube is a little bulbous ish.

In terms of power meter - suggestions?

Any other suggestions for a new bike in the R150k range inc power meter and wheels.

    Race report please?

Not sure it was that bad, there was a sneaky tailwind to trick you into a false sense of hope, then there was a neat head and cross wind, throw in some single track and river crossings. Then just the long slow up with a headwind here and there added to the vibe.

    Was a lekker event.

That was quite the adventure! It made last years Around the Pot seem dry 😂

Longest race to date and my first time riding though the night so maybe the excitement took my mind off the conditions a bit. I did it on a gravel bike so took a beating on the rough stuff which was way more abundant than I expected. All in all extremely happy with how the race went.

Superb job by Dryland for putting together another great event.

    TOP TEN TONY!

I'd definitely suggest doing a big day ride then. Start at 7am, if you've got bike lights then get going earlier, sunrise is beautiful this time of year, even on the "wrong" side. Stop for lunch on your way back in Scarborough at The Village Hub: https://maps.app.goo.gl/NScXeGhMXzZPda4L8

When leaving Scarborough just make sure to stick to the coastal road and ride around to Kommetjie. Avoid taking the short cut over Oceanview for security reasons. (Checkout the map attached)

Recommend Windguru for Cape Point wind forecasts, their rain prediction isn't great but wind in the south is usually spot on: https://www.windguru.cz/128493

Whatever you do, just make sure to do more in the reserve than just ride to the actual point. Riding down to Olifantsbos is a 20km out & back extension but well worth it and also the best chance of seeing Bontebok and maybe even an Eland. Circle route including a visit to the Gifkommetjie view site is another must do in the reserve.

Stop in Simonstown for a morning coffee & pastry, you'll see a couple of cafe's on the right just before Jubilee square.

There's a convenience store on the left just as you leave Simonstown, it'll be the last refueling option for water etc before you reach the cafe in the reserve at the actual point.

    Enjoy!
