  1. Am just checking its safe to lay the bike down in the back of my car or for when I fix a puncture. Thanks.
  2. I am busy looking at hydraulic brakes on my possible future bike, but I have read somewhere that you need to be careful when laying the bike down on its side, and turning upside down as the brakes can then get air in them,...any truth to this?
  3. They drive you mad, even worse when you have a more than one phone line,....they just don't get the message that you don't want their product/service etc and then they get all miff about it!! The best way for me is to say 'Thanks but no thanks' if they get shirty after that just hang up!
  4. Wow, thats enough to put anyone off marshalling!
  5. Where did you get pricing as I am also in the market for a new bike around R5000. Personally I would look at the Merida.
  6. If you are not feeling 100%, give it a miss rather than put strain on your heart,....Take the time to recover now.
  7. While I agree that you can't judge someone by looks alone (I would be screwed otherwise!!), it does help if whoever is assisting you does cycle or has some physical riding knowledge. It helps when trying to explain something to someone and hopefully saves time and frustration.
  8. Service and customer satisfaction is KING! I run a my own business, have done for the last 5 years and I assist my partner with her business. If we were not service and customer orientated we would have been out of business within 6 months. A good sign of the sucess of a business is not only new business, but repeat business. Alas the 'service is king' line is a bit of a joke in SA lately, from buying a computer to trying to get a decent service for your car. No-one seems to care.,,,,,
  9. Bikes, cars, 4x4's, model planes, computers, tools, beer, all for me,...plenty of kids already out there for someone else to deal with!!
  10. I pop into the Krugersdump Cajee's once in a while, the guys help me out there and I have been going there for years, its also the closest option for me. The one at Princess Crossing, I give that a wide berth, bicycles all over in various states of repair and assembly, spares and stock all over the floor (can't even look at the tyres for rubbish all over) and mad prices! Nobody interested in helping you cause you don't have R20k to spend!
  11. I thought he would be trying to nationalise the site......
  12. Was the chain also replaced? Any sticky links?
  13. Get a barbell and some weights then do some standing shoulder presses, behind the neck presses (lightly), deadlifts, squats.....get some dumbells and the list gets longer and more fun, add a bench and thats another workout. Or with no weights: situps, bench dips, push ups, shoulder shrugs. I am a big fan of cross training, be it gym, squash, hiking, whatever.
  14. My el cheapo pak allows me to carry extra water to fill up my bottles on the bike (I use one bottle for water, one for energade mix). It keeps the water nice and cold for a few hours, and its great to have extra clean water to rinse your face off when you have sweated, wash off your shades and have some extra water to spray your chain and cogs when you have been through gritty mud. Then again I drink a lot(!) when I cycle and would rather have more water than needed on a ride.
  15. I use a saddle bag, I carry some patches (cut in different sizes) and glue and some sandpaper (old skool me) as well as my trusty old hand pump. 1 Spare tube. Some rim tape as well. No CO2 pump.
  16. Bet the cops are all holding hands and singing that song as we speak!!!! Lucky for them in this country they don't need bullet proof vests, decent guns and training, cars, cars with petrol in them,...might as well spend the budget on a party!! But ja, it is Friday so get down and party!!!
  17. Oh, and the Walmart site is quite funny!! And disturbing too!!
  18. Discrimination,.... Footwear at all times??,....well, I know our local Spar would be out of business pretty quick if they tried that one!!!
  19. I don't think that is fair, surely they also need to know which way to point the barrel????!!!!Mojoman2010-01-28 02:46:42
  20. And those patches cost next to nothing as well,....Quite short sighted of Hi-Q, chances are you own a car and won't be going back there for tyres. I asked my local Supa Quick for a teaspoon size splodge of copper grease a while ago, came home with a marg tub half full of it and no charge! A few months later I bought my new 4x4 tyres from them. Thats what makes the difference, customer relations!
  21. Prehaps they will be more functional after this 'morale' boosting party??!! But somehow I don't think so!!
  22. No, alas he had already left by the time I got out there, then again its probably for the best. Armed with SWAT tear gas, a 50cm piece of steel pipe, and my steel toed work boots, things could have quickly gotten out of hand!
