  1. Beautiful advice. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  2. Dead calm at 5am this morning. May pick up later though. Tomorrow's Winguru All models numbers are starting to look like a really good day. We're going to be riding folks! My first CTCT. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  3. Yep. I own more Treks than they had on display... Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  4. Goody bag. Bottle of dishwashibg liquid and a sachet of mayonnaise... Who would have imagined? [emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  5. Quite perceptive. You're absolutely correct. I have never ridden the Cape Peninsula at all… It sounds like I may be better off just staying safely in my hotel room and watching the fun on the television…
  6. I don't know about your Kaapse Doktor but I've done enough riding into E Cape (East London area) gale force winds. You work hard and go slooowly but I find the heat to be a far bigger killer. But yes, a light breeze is always better if one has a choice. The E Cape boys say "any wind is better than no wind" and I think they are mostly right. :-)
  7. I tell you what – I rather ride in the wind – even quite a strong one – and on a hot windless day. You work harder in the wind but somehow it doesn't feel nearly as bad.
  8. Eish. I don't know Cape Town at all. Even watching the tech videos, I've got no clue where these places are that they talk about. Will just have to go slow and careful...
  9. Whoohoo! Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  10. The goody bag comments... the weirdest thing I've yet had in a bag is a bottle of hair-dye shampoo.. some obscure German stuff. Like.. what? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  11. I spoke too soon. I see that the wind numbers are up again... But it shows that we actually don't really know yet what is going to happen.
  12. I see the wind predictions are trending downwards. Accuweather now says 22km/h and with gusts of 52km/h. That should be fine.
  13. That's not the issue. I've ridden in gale force winds and enjoyed it too. But that wasn't in a race pack. It's not the wind per se that's the problem but the consequent high speed crashes - which can result in extremely severe injuries, even fatalities. There's a difference between being tough and being stupid. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  14. Source of that? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  15. Got it... Ag *** Marelize! [emoji44] Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  16. Which model are people looking at on Winguru? Because for CT I'm seeing - in knots - much lower - and liveable - numbers. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  17. That's liveable. I was looking at Accuweather, not WindGuru. My error. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  18. I've decided I'm out if there are gusts like that on the day. I've ridden winds like that on my own no problem but in bunches, the risk of severe injury is just too great. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  19. I see weather reports predict a SE of 37km/h with gusts into the 80km/h + zone. Hoo boy... going to be pretty unsafe, no? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  20. Guys – just a quick note to say thanks to everybody here for helping with advice and input – it has made a pretty big difference.
  21. On the tracking thing, I had a look and there is a Racetech app that you can download that enables you to track various riders as they cross the various tracking points. Check it out in Play Store and whatever the equivalent is for iOS.
  22. Excellent! Thank you very, very much. That certainly helps somebody who doesn't know the area at all. I am going to print that and take it with me.
  23. Okay, sorry about that. Thanks for the explanation.
