  1. but what if Shoes identified as a 16 year old
  2. I think the clean ones and spectators wanting clean sport actually care. The reason why top-end sports are so appealing is because you get to witness incredible displays of strength, endurance, and other exceptional talents performed by athletes. However, if these athletes are achieving these feats through the use of performance-enhancing drugs, then it diminishes the value of their accomplishments. If I were to lose my belief that these athletes are truly exceptional, then I would lose interest in watching them. While it is true that even with doping, it takes a great deal of hard work and talent to reach the top, I do not want to question the authenticity of their results. It is disheartening to think that someone could win simply because they out-doped their competition.
  3. Strip for parts Keep the frame and rebuild it to a gravel bike
  4. and here im just wondering when or if the new 12speed TRP drivetrain will be available in SA
  5. I thought my post was clear enough to state the difference in skill..... I need one just to ride down jeep tracks
  6. No Dropper............. Pros really know how to shred but i would want one just to descend down jeep tracks EDIT: I see his riding an EVO, wonder what the weight saving would be if it was a normal SWorks Epic with a dropper vs the EVO without one.
  7. If I had an older bike that's not UDH compatible but wanted to upgrade to AXS 12 speed eagle, this new transmission is out of the question. Assumption here is that current AXS 12 speed will be discontinued and once sold out they out. I do like this advancement in tech and the 12 speed AXS is something i would be interested to upgrade to. I am aware that there is will still be stock of older AXS and there is still a 2nd hand market but I am highlighting a valid scenario where this new tech is not available to you unless you upgrade your frame.
  8. i think you would be surprised how many people ride bikes older than 2020.... but then again , if you riding an older bike you probably not the target market....
  9. Wakefield is not her maiden surname. Its her husbands surname
  10. Ah i see But even so, it seems to me that testing is either done to those finishing in top or near the top positions or if they are under suspicion. Mid pack and back markers however, are they ever randomly tested? i mean who would know if a mid/back pack rider was on any ban substances... once again not condoning the use of ban substances. Just curious about whether this matters
  11. Im interested in understanding whether this will work well with 1) Shimano Chain, Cassette and Cranks (55mm chain line) 2) Bikes that do not have a 55mm chain line (is this adjustable?) The other thing to consider if this tech gets trickled down to GX is that anyone who currently owns a non UDH or non 148 boost frame wont be able to get this new transmission system. Shimano focusing on the peoples market with CUES and Sram focusing on the top end market with Eagle.
  12. Just wondering if amateurs will even be tested and does it even matter if they are taking anything that's on the ban list as long as they not causing harm to themselves and others. Not condoning taking ban substances
  13. There is nothing sexier than a high end campy mechanical on an Italian bike
  14. the same reason i left my old company...perhaps he just found better work
  15. Unless you trying for PR's up to the mast i dont see the point of a gravel bike at Tokai. Just the wrong tool for the job.
  16. I have a couple of old 29er MTB tires lying around. Some of them are well worn and some of them still have some mileage on them. Any ideas what can be done with them ? Can i donate or recycle these? Based on Southern Suburbs, Cape Town.
  17. Shoo, is this what stage racing has become. is it frowned upon if i try to push myself
  18. The last Insta post from the mothers was pure gold, Loved the banter and made the rivalry all the worth while more interesting to follow. I hope their rivals step up their Insta Banter game for next year. Was it the uncles that only recently figured out how to post to Insta
  19. cant see what the issue is for a shorter route. Im guessing hubbers are not the target market for this and as mentioned by others, most other events have short route options. Having a shorter option has no impact on you doing the full 109km so i dont understand the negativity behind it. As far as I am concerned nothings changed that actually affects me and my race on the 109km route
  20. This was an interesting read and reaffirmed my decision not to enter. The marketing of this event came across as a 2day social group ride and not a stage race. Which is fine as long as organizers clarify that its not a "race"
  21. Much better event organization than that other 100miler race. Sorry to throw shade. Marshals and policing were on point today. Well done PPA. Funride groups worked well together to get over this 170km (my personal experience). This is now my favourite road event.
  22. Didnt wana say it but Booland 100miler felt like the most unsafe race i ever did. Dont this road users were even aware that there was an event on. It felt like we just a bunch of riders getting together and deciding to ride 150km on public roads
