Sarah Van Heerden. She is the toughest athlete / person I have ever had the pleasure of riding with. She has been training in excess of 5 hours a day for months.

I have done a number of road events on my MTB, I ride with a bunch of stronger riders also on MTB and our annual task is to come in below the 3 hour mark at Amashova. We start in an official MTB batch that is right at the back, so generally are traveling much faster than the road cyclists around us, so I don't think we hinder them at all. However, it has never occurred to me to warn anyone of any obstacles as you have mentioned, that's definitely something I will be mindful of in the future - we generally have a large bunch that holds onto us near the end.

Hi there, I replaced it with the Fox CTD (Kashima coated). Chucked the twinlock lever away and haven't looked back since.

I rode frequently with Dave, he was a very experienced cyclist and a tremendous athlete. Also just an all round good guy. His company will be sorely missed.

Interestingly I see that the guys from Morewood were at the launch..... Perhaps a new synergy in the making?

I have a 2013 Scott Spark that I have done in excess of 15,000km on. I have done numerous stage races on it, plus many 200km+ events without any failure whatsoever. It's my long distance weapon and my toy for Giba and Karkloof. The only intrinsic thing that I have replaced (by choice) was the DT Swiss rear shock - this is not necessary on the newer models as Fox is standard issue. I have never touched the swingarm bearings. My next bike? The same.

Surely 'ze Germans!' have many solutions for this?

I have been using a two bike Saris rack for two years and have nothing bad to say about it. It is a brilliant piece of kit, glad someone is brining them in again.

What's the point? The aluminium Race wheels are lighter and half the price. I find them plenty durable and stiff enough.

Chuck it away and get hold of a Fox CTD unit. I have never looked back.
