  1. Which way are you heading now ?

Been in the Uppington to Pofadder areas for work over the last few years.  2018 I even got to ride my MTB on some farms ....  Last February I even worked at the Kaxu solar power plant (super impressive, but not allowed to post those pics) ....

Can post this pic I took out of the plane of the Khi plant though ...

Die fotos laat my nou erg verlang na daai vlaktes !!

Waar die f*kols 'n meter hoog groei en oral is ...   :D

  2. Check out namola.com. the size of a remote, panic button, GPS tracking, can receive calls, but not make them. Very affordable, just check coverage in your area. We bought one for our daughter who studies in Stellenbosch and is a diabetic.

    Nice, didn't know about this.

Edit:  I cycle with my iPhone XR in my back pocket so the wife can get my location if I get into trouble.  Running with a phone, I wont even consider.

  3. Yes most alarms run on 12V.  imho, better to keep your alarm system/beams on a separate battery.

The higher the inverter input voltage the better (more efficient, hence less energy loss).  I'm on 24V but 48 or even 96V would be better, but that imply a lot of batteries (x 12V) to get there which is expensive.

  4. Guess I was lucky so far, very good service.  I do however agree, they need to get into 2021 and update their system to be a "True Online" shop.

This order, wait for a quote, then pay & ship "thing" they use is ridiculous & totally OLD.

Do a physical shop and/or proper online shop.  Don't do this in between sort of thing !

  5. I started with an 2500 W (5000 peak) pure sine inverter with 4 x 180 Ah batteries (AGM).  I connected them in series + parallel since my inverter is 24V input.

My DB is also wired to auto switch (relay) between grid and inverter, cutting out the geyser & stove from the circuit when on inverter.

The plan is to later add some solar panels, but for now I simply keep my batteries charged and that get me through most power cuts.  From previous outages, look like I can get to about 12 hours until my battery voltage will drop below 22V.

When that happen, my geni is also wired into the DB with a manual switch over between inverter and geni.

    So far so good.

  6. 6 runs from this last over...

55 required off 66 balls, 5 wickets remaining.

Run-a-ball should be doable, if INDIA wanted to.

Correct, "if they want to", hopefully not like the Proteas that will opt 9/10 times rather play for the draw.

  7. You're trying to do too much in one step, that means you'll always make mistakes.

Paper and ink is cheap, write down a single step at a time.  e.g. If you have the square root of 36 in one line, repeat the whole line and just change that single term to 6.

Nobody gets marks for writing down fewer steps, you only get marks for the right answer

I think the OP was sorted long ago ...   :whistling:

  8. Looking for a 700mm +- bar and 60mm to 80mm stem please. Something with a rise will be great.

Converting my IDT from road to a more MTB setup. My shoulders can't deal with this road bar vibe.

I have a Easton handle bar, 680mm, 30mm rise, 35mm clamp.  Not going to use it again, you can have it for free if interested.  Few little scratches, still in good condition.

Only have 2 long stems (110 & 120) and neither are 35mm clamp.

  9. Woaah slow down. Have you checked first if that "Swiss woman", probably Esther Suss, did not win the Epic on that?

Looking through the 2014 photos, it does look like a distinct possibility.  So much more reason to keep it original and repaired professionally.

I had to respray my frame, those chips can probably be repaired much cheaper.  Rather talk to Annette at Cycledelic before you make any decisions.

  10. I am a very long time Polar user.  As far as HR goes, nothing is better.

At the moment I have a H10 that I can use with my watch, cycling computer or phone via Bluetooth.  It just work and I'm so used to the strap, don't even know its there while exercising.

Edit:  Added bonus, most of the equipment in the Gym also picks it up.

  11. Hey guys, I am looking for a set of Shimano 10 speed road shifters that are in good working condition

I am also looking for a Shimano 9 speed MTB rear derailleur that is in good working order if anyone has anything lying around gathering dust?

Willing to pay for them obviously.

I got an old 9 speed RD for you.  Shimano XT RD-M770.

Neutral position on the large (easy) gear.  PM me if interested.
