  1. Once bought a really expensive clothing from the bike shop and while driving home with my wife in the car, a sms came through on my phone. I asked her to check the message, having nothing to hide. It was the bloody bank confirming the exact amout spent minutes earlier on my credit card.......won't make that mistake again because she retaliated by buying shoes for the same amount the next morning.....and that stuffed the cash flow for a month or three.
  2. Definitely not me, I haven't got a baby that I know of.
  3. I love the paint job on the frame - one of a kind - it really looks yummie!
  4. +1 It made my indoor trainer hugely more comfortable. Just stuck a thick plank under the front wheel at first but now have a fancy multi level moulded plastic block that does exactly the same thing.
  5. You should ask for your blood back if you want to feel like a pro.
  6. Check out this thread for some ideas. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/106914-the-transformation/page__view__findpost__p__1483327__hl__transformation__fromsearch__1
  7. Hi FSA, I really really don't have an attitude today, scouts honour.
  8. Olympic cycles is one of the oldest local bike shops in Cape Town (Cleremont) with one of the widest ranges of stock. It is primarily a shop where real people go to look at and buy real bikes and bike stuff and to talk to real sales and service people. Sorry to hear their web shop is problematic. The real one works for me.
  9. We bought a tandem that fits us and plan to ride the Argus together next year. I'm a competent mtb and road rider and my son (almost 11) ride his mtb quite well and can do most 25-30km mtb races. Any advice about training and technique from old tandem hands/heads?
  10. Hey MJ, you obviously don't understand how overtaking at mtb races works. You are supposed to appear so suddenly in the right hand peripheral vision of the slower rider, and simultaniously shout so loudly that you scare the dude into crashing off to the left, leaving the track clear for you to pass. By the time he starts swearing, you will be too far ahead to even hear it. Simple, try it next time.
  11. Great pictures, you should post this kind of thing more often.
  12. Good answer. I experienced exactly this after a recent injury. I kept the intensity as high as a could and came out of an 8 week rehab almost as strong as I was before.
  13. Pearl Izumi in black - one way to make the Rapha afficionados look grey.
  14. Why not Avids? I've run Juicy 5s for at least 3 years with no issues and minimal mainenance and they have more than enough power on a very hard working trailbike. Are the newer Avids different / worse?
  15. You are forgetting about the guy with the broken shoulder waiting to make a comeback..... Jokes aside, my armour is available for rent until after Wine to Whales.
  16. I always thought (actually envied you) that you didn't live by the clock, now THIS!
  17. Are you worried that riding outdoors will turn you into fast food?
  18. Lourensford Mtb (as organized by Dirtopia) next weekend is part of this initiative.
  19. Learnt recently (since wife's work situation changed) that dropping the kids off at school makes commuting by bike impossible. I've managed to get one of the boys to ride home after school with me a few times, but the size of book and sports bags (hockey goalie gear is the size of a small car) generally makes it impossible. I'll need 2 bike trailers. Now I take my bike to work by car, then I ride from work to work after work (ha, ha) and drive home afterwards! Insane, I know.
  20. OK, I'm in, even if it means building something I can't ride!
  21. Best thing Specialized ever did for the Stumpy was to put Fox suspension on it! Thanks Chubba, great clip. Nice to see a local in that company.
  22. I'd love to see more pictures of this transformation
