  1. So basically most Giant dealers I'd assume. Thanks.
  2. Who are the dealers for Suntour in SA if I need spares? I recently bought a bike with a Aion 35 and might want to put an extra volume spacer in. They're rubber pucks, but I see there is also someone who printed a plastic version, so that may also work. I'm assuming the Rockshox 35mm foam rings would fit and a decent bike shop would also be able to source dust wiper seals?
  3. You're right. It was a photo I found on the internet that shows the clips. I didn't even notice that, lol. The one on my bike is installed correctly. Thanks
  4. First time I've seen these clips on a bike. They're meant to stop the bolts backing out.
  5. Never heard of the chalk trick, will keep that in mind. I think you're risking galvanic corrosion and a stuck seatpost: Can You Put a Carbon Seat Post In an Aluminum Frame? – Brainy Biker
  6. I've tried the rubber band trick on a rounded out top cap bolt and it didn't work for me, but I also didn't have it on 4 sides. It was a 'fancy' top cap with holes, so I could at least use pliers to undo the cap.
  7. You need a decent properly fitting 2mm hex / allen key for Shimano brake lever bleed caps. You need to insert it properly (may need to tap it in) or you're like to round off the hole (I alsmost did) and then you'll have to make other plans to get that cap off.
  8. Eish, that's a really steep markup. Seems a bit unfair towards her. Unfortunately not uncommon for guys who buy and resell, it happens a lot with 2nd hand cars. I wonder if they'll actually get the 75k asking price. Make them an offer for 45k
  9. Makes sense. What doesn't is Trek's warranty. I think it's 5 for the original and 2 for the subsequent. Still better than Giant who offer a lifetime one for the original owner, but nothing for subsequent owners. Edit: thinking about it, maybe it's a strategy they use to limit their claims and so people would rather buy new bikes?
  10. Typical experience when advertising something: Potential buyer: Is the item available? Me: yes, it's available. Silence...
  11. Some brands offer a warranty transfer to subsequent owners, but often with a reduced time. It doesn't really make sense to me, if you offer a warranty on a product does it really matter if it's not the original owner?
  12. Bike Addict stocks it now.
  13. Brakes can be tricky. Not sure what happened to yours, but bleeding incompletely can leave bubbles and a spongy feeling. Pulling the lever with nothing to stop them can pop the pistons out. Getting oil on the pads and rotors can lead to brakes that don't work well. Rotors can be cleaned. Pads not really, unless they're sintered. If you're lucky a bit of light sandpapering and then bedding in may work. I've tried soaking resin pads in alcohol and heating them up which worked for a short while, until they disintegrated on the trail. I think one or both of those up messed up the resin. Also not installing the pin / bolt can lead to them falling out on the trails. Something that did seem to work for getting some bubbles out was to open the reservoir and tape up the lever in a squeezed position and leave it like that overnight. Then top up.
  14. Yup! Been there done that and managed to push the brake piston out while checking the brakes with the wheel off. Had to borrow a brake from someone who fortunately had a spare for me. I don't think I had the supplies to bleed it myself yet.
  15. I ride about 7km to the trails on tar road (and 7 back) and the DHR (which I run up front) has lasted pretty well. Might depend on the compound too. I think I have the harder compound. But the DHF on the rear has also lasted well. About 2500km on them so far with a fair bit of tar road usage due to getting to the trails and back. I was more worried about losing side knobs initially, but like dasilvarsa I don't lean the bike enough
  16. Wow, that's a lot of KMs. Surely it has almost no grip on some uphills?
  17. This is not the correct way to route a chain. No wonder it sounded so noisy.
  18. I'm just providing feedback so Lyne can consider it for a future version.
  19. The plastic bumper is nice, but it would also be cool if I could use my handlebars tools with it. E.g. Granite Stash.
  20. I would have everything on that bike double checked. A crank coming loose like that could have resulted in a serious injury. Glad it didn't though.

    Formula 1...

With the new Sprint Quali rules and tyre restrictions, it means that if Norris or Tsunoda manage to get into SQ3 they can't participate - they don't have any new soft tyres left, only used ones.
  22. Roughly doubled in price in 10 years. btw, because it's vegetable oil based it has an expiry date.
